Disney Consumer Products and Lucasfilm recently announced “The March to May The 4th” campaign centered around the beloved franchise’s villains. When I walked into the private event space at Virgin Hotels in New York City, I was in awe of the amount of Star Wars merchandise from brands like Disney Store, Disney Parks, Disney Doorables, Lego, Cakeworthy, Girl’s Crew, and Citizen Watches.

In particular, the event was designed to celebrate new merchandise fans can look forward to, including a Star Wars The Black Series Holocomm Collection Darth Vader Action Figure and Force n’ Tellin Vader toy from Hasbro; Invisible Hand and Boarding the Tantive IV sets from Lego; and Star Wars dark side timepieces from Citizen.

In addition, Disney Store and Disney Parks showcased a Padme Amidala Adult Ear Headband, The Sith Apprentice: Darth Maul Legacy Lightsaber Set, and the Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Collection.

Star Wars TruMoo Blue Milk was also announced, which unsurprisingly prompted a lot of discussion on social media.

Star Wars Lights up the Empire State Building

Later in the evening, guests were invited to the hotel’s patio area for premium viewing of a Star Wars-themed dynamic light show projected onto the side of New York City’s Empire State Building, featuring an appearance by Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader), who – along with Darth Vader himself – flipped the switch.

The show lasted about five minutes while “The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme)” was broadcast in the patio area so event attendees could experience it as designed. Those unable to see the show in person could still enjoy the complete show experience by tuning into iHeartRadio’s Z100 New York radio station and its corresponding iHeartRadio app to listen to the music live while the show was displayed.

Towards the end of the show, Darth Vader and a couple of Stormtroopers marched onto the patio and met event attendees
