Top 5 Rides at Epcot – Theme Park Best

by Matt Roseboom
We ask you, our readers, to vote for your favorite food, ride, land, or activity at theme parks around the world every week. This time, we’re at Walt Disney World’s Epcot to rank the top 5 rides at the park.

Epcot

For the purpose of this poll, we evaluated all of the attractions in the park, from big to small. We then read through each answer you shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and compiled the top five. These are the official winners for Epcot, plus an honorable mention:

Anna, Elsa and Olaf in Frozen Ever After

5. Frozen Ever After

This ride is located in the Norway pavilion and used to be known as Malestrom. Although some loved that ride, you can’t say the Imagineers didn’t do a great job converting it to Frozen Ever After. It’s still the same boat ride with the same track layout as Maelstrom, but that’s where the similarities end. You’re headed up to Elsa’s ice palace as the town of Arendelle is celebrating Summer Snow Day.

This song-filled journey is a slow-moving boat ride with backward and forward plunges down short waterfalls. Everyone can ride, but you may get wet during the small drop!

4. Living with the Land

Living with the Land, an edu-tainment-style boat ride that showcases the world of plant life, nature and man’s part in all of it. This attraction, located in the Land Pavilion in Future World, does not have a height or age restriction. Guests will board slow-moving boats as they are taken from greenhouse to greenhouse, learning about the vast variety of plants and the best way to take care of them.

It’s the icon of Epcot and takes guests on a slow-moving journey to learn about the history of mankind and the evolution of technology and communication. During the ride, guests will have their photo taken, which will later be used in a custom video animation depicting their future based on choices they made during the ride.

“Spaceship Earth is an absolute classic. It inspires me every time I ride it, one of my favorite and most memorable rides in Disney World!” – Jenny Degelia on Facebook

“Spaceship Earth. It’s the symbol both figurative and literally of what Epcot is supposed to embody. A celebration of the human spirit and existence.” – MickeyMike on Twitter

2. Test Track

Test Track is the fastest ride at Walt Disney World! This attraction, located in Future World East, has a height requirement of 40 inches. Test Track allows guests to custom design their own concept vehicle and then test it on the track. Individual six-seat vehicles will take guests through hairpin turns, aggressive braking maneuvers, and a high-speed lap around the entire show building. Guests who are too short or don’t want to ride this attraction can still have fun and design their own vehicle in the Chevrolet Showroom.

“Test track! It is such a cool experience. I love the designing your vehicle and seeing how it “performs” on the track. Plus it has that thrill effect!” – Katherinerene on Instagram

“Test Track, I love building your own car before the ride, and the ride itself is lots of fun, has a bit of Tron feel to it.” – Christin Kurpen on Facebook

1. Soarin’ Around the World

Soarin’ Around the World, the fastest way to fly around the globe without so much as a passport!

This attraction, located in the Land Pavilion in Future World, has a height restriction of 40 inches. Soarin’ will lift guests 40 feet into the air, directly in front of a 180-degree huge screen. From wind effects to gentle gliding maneuvers, and even smells, guests will be immersed in a journey above places like the Taj Mahal, Monument Valley, the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China!

Okay, let’s review: that is seat, seatbelt, carry-on items, safety strap, fear of heights, keep your hands and arms inside at all times—anything else…? Oh yeah, have a nice flight! – Patrick, the Chief Flight Attendant

“Soarin is one of my favorite rides at Disney, it’s breathtaking. I love the sensation of flying over the world. It’s extremely relaxing, peaceful and fun!” – Benjamin Kebles on Facebook

“Soarin. This attraction still blows me away nearly 2 decades after I first got to experience it. It left an impression on me at a young age, and it still impresses me to this date.” – OakviewFilms on Twitter

Epcot

Honorable Mention: Impressions de France

Impressions de France is an 18-minute film showcasing the grandeur, charm, and romance of one of Europe’s most enchanting countries. This attraction, located in the France Pavilion in World Showcase, does not have an age or height restriction.

Although this poll was meant solely for rides, leaving shows out because of the difference between a show like Impressions de France and street performers. There were simply so many write-in votes for this attraction that we had to include it. This show exits into the France Pavilion’s bakery, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie, which is one of the highest-rated bakeries at Walt Disney World.

“IMPRESSIONS DE FRANCE, 100%!!!!! Feels like I’m back in France, in my carriage with my baguette.” – Alizeah Girard on Facebook

“Impressions of France! Love the songs, everything about French people are so real and so true inside this beautiful movie.” – Blandine Metayer on Facebook

So that’s the list as of early 2019, but there are more rides coming to Epcot, so we’re sure this list will change in the future. Take a look:
