Tormenta Rampaging Run roller coaster opening in 2026 at Six Flags Over Texas

Tormenta Rampaging Run, a record-breaking dive roller coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), will open in 2026 at Six Flags Over Texas near Dallas.

Tormenta, Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags unveiled the dive coaster on Sept. 25, 2025. The exact opening date in 2026 for Tormenta is not yet announced.

Tormenta Rampaging Run, themed to the Spanish tradition of the running of the bulls and located in a Spain-themed area of Six Flags Over Texas, will break six world records for roller coasters. Tormenta will be:

  • the world’s tallest dive coaster, at 309 feet
  • the world’s fastest dive coaster, at 87 mph
  • the world’s longest dive coaster, with 4,199 feet of track

The coaster will also contain:

  • the world’s tallest vertical coaster loop, at 179 feet
  • the world’s highest Immelmann inversion, with riders being upside-down at 218 feet
  • the world’s highest 95-degree drop, at 285 feet

A dive coaster involves ride vehicles with long rows (eight riders per row, in Tormenta’s case) reaching its highest point, pausing, and then sending riders pummeling downward. In addition to Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas, other dive coasters you may be familiar with include SheiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or Valravn at Cedar Point (both of which were also built by B&M). Tormenta will also carry the distinction of being a giga coaster, or a coaster between 300-399 feet tall.

“As the world’s first giga dive coaster, Tormenta Rampaging Run introduces a completely new ride category, blending giga coaster heights with the fun and thrill of a dive coaster,” said Sophie Bolliger, president of Bolliger & Mabillard. “This level of innovation sets new standards for the theme park industry and our company is honored to be part of this historic moment with Six Flags.”

B&M‘s coaster portfolio also features The Incredible Hulk at Universal Islands of Adventure and Fury 325 at Carowinds, among others.

Other 2026 theme park attractions announced this month include a hybrid coaster/whitewater boat ride called NightFlight Expedition at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and a suspended dark ride called SeaQuest at SeaWorld Orlando.

In 2024, Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged to form a combined company of 56 parks.
