Universal Orlando replaces Jaws, Kong and Jurassic Park parking garage themes
Changes are underway at Universal Orlando Resort’s North Parking Garage. Spotted Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, new signage reveals a major retheming of the five-level structure, replacing the familiar Jurassic Park, Jaws and King Kong parking sections with characters and franchises including Trolls, Shrek, Minions, E.T. and Transformers.

It’s time to say goodbye to Jaws all over again as Universal Orlando wipes out the classic themes of its North Parking Garage.
Gone are the familiar red, blue and yellow sections themed to Jaws, King Kong and Jurassic Park. The primary colors also helped distinguish the North Garage from its counterpart, the South Parking Garage, with its secondary colors of purple, orange and green representing The Cat in the Hat, E.T. and Spider-Man.
Universal Orlando’s parking garage now has five distinct themes, one for each level shown on the sign:
- Level 1: DreamWorks’ “Trolls” — pink
- Level 2: “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” — white and blue
- Level 3: DreamWorks’ “Shrek” — green
- Level 4: Illumination’s “Minions” — yellow and blue
- Level 5: “Transformers” — gray
During a visit by Attractions Magazine staff today, Nov. 5, a few photos were able to be captured, but the transformation is not complete just yet.

Most guests probably are not affected by the start of these changes. But as the days and weeks progress we will most likely see the complete removal of the former themes and the replace of the new level-wide themes and colors.
A fresh look deserves a better arrival experience
As an Orlando native and frequent theme park visitor, I’ll admit that Universal Orlando’s parking garages are one of my least favorite parts of visiting the resort.
Universal’s parking setup is unusual among Orlando’s major theme parks, which primarily use surface parking lots. Disney Springs, however, offers a parking garage system I’ve long wished Universal would adopt, with electronic signs directing drivers toward available spaces, complete with red lights over each spot when it is occupied, which changes to green when the space is available.

There’s also an opportunity to improve the human side of the experience. Parking operations at a theme park is certainly a less glamorous role than being in the park itself; I know, I’ve worked on both sides of the experience. But in the end, the parking is the first and last experience for many guests and they deserve a welcoming experience.

The new themes are a fun change, and assigning one franchise to each level could genuinely make finding a parked car easier. Hopefully, these changes will extend beyond the new signage to parking operations, creating a welcoming arrival experience for Universal Orlando guests.
