Universal Orlando’s Citywalk implements curfew

CityWalk at Universal Orlando has implemented a 9 p.m. curfew for guests ages 17 and under on Friday and Saturday nights, possibly in the wake of a July 23, 2022 fight in the parking garage.

The bar and entertainment district will require under-18s to have a parent or guardian with them to remain in CityWalk, a policy that may have been sparked by the parking garage fight between several juveniles during which the garage was evacuated and guests became fearful of a shooting, which did not occur.

A representative at Universal Orlando responded to Attractions Magazine’s query, stating:

“This protocol is among the pre-pandemic operational procedures we are reinstating as part of our return to normal operation.”

There are exceptions to the new policy: under 18s staying in a Universal hotel or attending a movie at CityWalk’s Cinemark theater will be allowed to enter unaccompanied.

It is not clear how long the policy will remain in effect, how confirmation of guests’ ages will take place, or how it will apply to Halloween Horror Nights (the “event” referenced in Universal Orlando Resort’s tweet, above).

Knott’s Berry Farm in California also recently implemented a chaperone policy for guests ages 17 and under after an incident of unruly behavior by teens on July 16, 2022.

  1. Some cultures will never assimilate into the non violent nature of US culture. Seems to be the same group that represents a minority but commits the majority of violent crimes.
