Universal teases mystery announcement | Roller coaster reveal incoming?
Universal Orlando teased a mystery announcement; could it be a new roller coaster for Universal Studios Florida?

Universal Orlando Resort posted a teaser video on its social media platforms on Jan. 17 with the simple caption, “01.20.26.” The accompanying five-second video is a close-up view of a speedometer whose analog meter displays “012026.” The only sound in the video is seemingly that of a car traveling at a fast speed.

So, Universal Orlando will reveal something on Jan. 20, but what? The resort has several projects in various stages of development and construction, all of them with minimal details publicly revealed. The furthest along of any of them is the active construction site for what seems to be a roller coaster on the plot of land formerly home to Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. The attraction is as far along as having coaster footers in the ground and facility infrastructure going vertical, but the attraction itself has yet to be revealed.

Universal will also soon begin construction for a mystery project in The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure, and has lots of space to expand park areas at Epic Universe.
As for the theming of Universal’s mystery announcement video, the car motif brings to mind the “Fast & Furious” franchise, though there’s always a chance this could be a misdirect. Universal Studios Florida opened the Fast & Furious Supercharged simulator attraction in 2018. Out west, the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster opens later this year at Universal Studios Hollywood.
For what it’s worth, the speedometer in the video seems to reach about 70 mph. Had it reached 88 mph, this might’ve been a clue for a “Back to the Future”-related announcement (as that’s the speed Marty McFly drives the Doc Brown’s DeLorean to time-travel).
