Buckle up, because we’ve got 2024 news about eight Six Flags parks to share — plus how you can save up to 70% on a 2024 season pass.

“At Six Flags, our relentless drive for innovation is powered by our passion to create moments of pure joy and excitement for our guests,” said Selim Bassoul, president and CEO of Six Flags. “This investment is central to our strategy to create fun and memorable experiences for every member of the family and reinforces Six Flags’ position as the leader in thrills. This builds on our recent efforts to offer new events and dining experiences by also introducing new rides for thrill-seekers and families, all while making improvements to many existing popular rides.”

Wooden Roller Coaster at Six Flags Great Escape

Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, N.Y. will add the wooden Bobcat roller coaster to its roster of rides in 2024. The Gravity Group will manufacture The Bobcat, which will travel at almost 40 mph.

Over the past few years, a handful of parks nationwide have modernized existing wooden coasters (like Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, for example). This is not that. The Bobcat is completely new.

Re-Imagined Log Flume at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington will revamp a classic attraction into a new experience. El Aserradero, which opened in 1963 as the world’s first log flume, will become El Rio Lento in 2024. Additions will include a new lift hill and two drops.

DC Universe Expansion at Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio will expand its DC Universe area with a combination of new attractions and re-themed favorites.

First, the new stuff. Cyborg Cyber Revolution will be a DC-themed take on Zamperla’s near-miss spinning ride. The ride’s four arms spin (but never go upside-down), seeming to just barely miss contact with one another in a mesmerizing dance. Variations of this fun ride system have started popping up at several parks the past few years. We first saw it in action at IAAPA 2019.

Shazam! Tower of Eternity won’t be like most drop towers. This one rotates!

Metropolis Transit Authority will take riders aboard monorail-esque cars for an elevated tour of DC Universe. The fun idea calls to mind similar attractions in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom and Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure.

New theming to existing Six Flags Fiesta Texas rides will include:

  • Supergirl Sky Flight – Swings that soar 200 feet in the air
  • Green Lantern: Airborne – Mini-airplanes
  • Poison Ivy: Toxic Spin – A mild spinning ride
  • The Penguin: Gotham City Getaway – Drivable cars
  • Batgirl: Gotham City Chase – A junior coaster

Boomerang Coaster and Glamping Resort at Six Flags Great Adventure

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, N.J. will mark its 50th anniversary in 2024. In honor of the big 5-0, the park will open a new roller coaster and a new onsite resort.

Also at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2024, Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa will invite guests on a new overnight experience. Adjacent to the 350-acre Wild Safari Park drive-through attraction, Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa will house its guests in luxury glamping tents with serene views and spa amenities.

Pendulum Thrill Rides at Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great America

A pair of identical (or if not, pretty darn similar) rides will open in 2024 at Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great America. Both attractions will be built by Zamperla, reach almost 75 mph, and soar 172 feet into the air. A few of the same riders even appear to be in both sets of concept artwork.

The Joker: Carnival of Chaos will open at Six Flags St. Louis, located in Eureka, Mo.

Water Coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia, located in Austell, will open a new, water-themed roller coaster built by Intamin in 2024. The park refers to the coaster as a “splash coaster” and an “ultra surf coaster” (no relation to, and a different manufacturer than, SeaWorld Orlando’s Pipeline: The Surf Coaster.)

In any case, the ride’s actual name will come from a fan competition. On this new coaster, riders will travel forward and backward, gliding along a splash zone on the way.

Re-Imagined Steampunk Land at Six Flags America

Six Flags America in Bowie, Md. will celebrate its 25th birthday in 2024. To mark the occasion, one of its park areas will be spruced up with a new theme, a new ride, and a new name — SteamTown.

Six Flags describes SteamTown, a steampunk-inspired land, as “where the past meets the future.”

SteamTown will include one new ride, SteamWhirler, another variation of the aforementioned Zamperla near-miss spinning ride (a version opened earlier this year in Aeronautica Landing at Carowinds, another re-imagined land a few states away).

Three existing attractions will be annexed into the new land and re-themed to fit within SteamTown’s story.

  1. The monorail system is the one removed from 6 Flags Magic Mt that took guests from Flashback area as loding dock was between The Moose Lodge now Sports Bar and Grill and Flashback which is closed but the que building space is still used for Fright fest and was one of the 2 mazes avialable durring Scream Break. The monorail system is just getting taken from one location and instead of trashing it all together give it a fresh coat of paint and install. Viola!
