Wizarding World of Harry Potter open for previews – on a limited basis

For the past few days, some regular Islands of Adventure park guests have been allowed into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The previews started last week just guests staying at a Universal hotel, but each morning since Tuesday, a few non-hotel guests have been let in.

Here’s the drill, at least for now. Starting at 8 a.m., (an hour before park opening) hotel guests are let into the new land. Then, depending on how many hotel guests chose to visit the Wizarding World that day, some regular guests may be let in anywhere between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. The whole area has been closing at 10 a.m., allowing guests until about noon to make their way out.

So your best bet, if you want to get in before the grand opening on June 18, 2010, is to either book a hotel room, or be outside the area as early as possible up until 10 a.m. But as I said, things could change at any time. That’s the nature of soft openings. With preperation possibly needed for the grand opening festivities from June 16 to 18, it may not open at all during and before those dates.

So get there soon and early and be patient. You can also follow along with those reporting on Twitter by searching the hashtag #potterwatch.

  1. I see where you mention Grand Opening Festivities from June 16-18. What are the festivities planned for the 16th and 17th?

  2. My family will be down there from the 11th through the 18th and as much as I want to see this, i do not want to fight that mess on the 18th. I guess we’ll take our chances somewhere between the 13th and 15th then. Thanks Matt!

  3. Was there three times this week and all the lines moved well! Even the Butterbeer lines were avoidable by buying the butterbeer in the bar instead of the street stand! Everything was awesome!

  4. Wow! it looks to crowd i was thinking to go now in july but i think im gonna wait maybe more months waiting for pple to calm down xD

  5. Can anyone purchase tickets for dates after June 18? We will be there June 22nd but don’t want to buy online and then find out we need a special ticket or that park is sold out. Can it sell out? Thanks, Rookie

  6. Jennyo: Yes anyone can buy tickets to Islands of Adventure. The park could fill to capacity but I doubt that will happen. If it does, it would just be for part of the day. If you go in the morning you would have no problems getting in. I’ve never heard of tickets selling out.
