With the release of the highly anticipated “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” movie comes an immersive attraction in Hollywood, Calif. called “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience.” Right in the heart of Hollywood, you can join the dead in the Afterlife for photo ops, themed food and drinks, interactive entertainment, and more.

What to expect at ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience’

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience” posits you, the guest, as a recently deceased person beginning their Afterlife journey. Just as seen in the original film, you will enter the Afterlife by knocking three times on a brick wall. As the wall cracks open, it is now your turn to enter the Afterlife as you journey through familiar hallways dressed in the classic style of director Tim Burton. At the end of the hall, you find yourself in a recognizable waiting room. Just hope your number is called quickly.

The first step is to fill out your Afterlife Passport. There’s the basic information including name, date of birth, and date of death. But then there are questions asking about your biological state. Are you only slightly decomposed, mostly intact but showing signs of fungal growth, or advanced decay? Toward the back of your passport, you can find scavenger hunt-like activities to keep you busy in the Afterlife. After all, death is long, and you need to find things to keep yourself busy.

After visiting a window clerk, answering some very “important” questions, and getting your passport stamped, it is now time to roam freely and take in everything there is to explore. If you’re daring enough, perhaps your first stop will be visiting a sandworm.

If you want to look the part, head over to the Brush with Death Beauty Salon where you can get a deadly makeover. Whether it’s a black eye you need, some hollowed cheek bones, or stitches across the face, this and more can all be accommodated.

One of my personal favorite visits is the Horrorscopist Death Star Readings. Here, small groups are brought into a séance space for hilarious interactions telling you a bit about your future to help you adjust in the Afterlife.

In the Afterlife, there are plenty of dead characters wandering around. But no visit would be complete without seeing Beetlejuice himself. You can find him leading a conga line, taking photos, hogging attention from everyone else, and simply wandering the Afterlife as one does. He is readily available for all new Afterlife guests to interact with.

All of these experiences, and so much more, are all included with the price of admission to “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience.”

Specialty food and drinks

If you’re looking for some food, drinks, and merchandise at “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience,” that’s all available too at an added cost.

Head on over to the Afterlife Diner for some themed food. Options include the Ghost House Guac, Freshly Exorcised Flatbread, Hellfire Wings, Shockberry Shortcake, and more. If you’re looking for alcohol, head to the Afterlife Bar and sip down on a Spicy Sandworm Rita or Deetz Manhattan. If you order the Juice is Loose Mai Tai or Afterlife Elixir, those will be served to you in a souvenir cup. From cocktails, beer & wine, shots, mocktails, and soft drinks, there are plenty of options in the Afterlife.

Exit through the ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ gift shop

After you’ve snapped all your photos, grabbed some bites and drinks, had some deadly experiences and interacted with the dead, luckily for you you’re able to return to the land of the living. Upon re-entry into Hollywood, no immersive experience would be complete without a souvenir shop full of themed Beetlejuice merchandise.
