Boba Fett and Fennec Shand arrive in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

During an Imagineering panel at Star Wars Celebration called “From a Galaxy Far, Far Away to a Disney Park Near You,” Portfolio Creative Executive Scott Trowbridge announced that, starting tomorrow, May 28, 2022, bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand will be seen in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park.

Trowbridge was greeted with cheers from the crowd when he said guests who encounter Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in Black Spire outpost – which he points out is “no stranger to bounty hunters and assassins” –  will discover an untold part of the pair’s story that has brought them to the edge of the galaxy.

But they’re not the only new visitors to Batuu. Trowbridge revealed that Din Djarin – known as the Mandalorian – and Grogu/Baby Yoda will also be journeying to Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at a later date.

Since opening at Disneyland in 2019, Black Spire Outpost has been home to a range of legacy and original “Star Wars” characters, so it’s no surprise that – like Avengers Campus at California Adventure – the land will continue to introduce new and future characters as “Star Wars” storytelling evolves and expands.

“Having been designed from the outset to connect with a broad range of ‘Star Wars’ storytelling, Black Spire Outpost has played a role in many of these stories stretching over thousands of years,” Trowbridge explained. “While, up to now, we have mostly shared those story connections through media and publishing, we will soon give visitors to Batuu an opportunity to connect with those fan-favorite stories, with the immersive detail and authenticity that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was designed to deliver.”

Trowbridge notes, however, that visitors to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can experience different stories throughout Star Wars history, but the characters on Batuu will remain in their specific timeline and won’t intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.

Other news shared at Star Wars Celebration is that new scenes will be added to Star Tours, a new DJ Rex playlist is coming to Oga’s Cantina, and music from Galactic Starcruiser super star Gaya will be released soon.
