Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind storytelling roller coaster opens on May 27, 2022 at Epcot in Walt Disney World, and here are some terms you should know before you go!
Guardians of the Galaxy – Main characters
Star-Lord (real name, Peter Quill) – Born on Earth, he is now the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy who relies heavily on his snarky sense of humor, even in the worst situations.
Gamora – Fighter extraordinaire, this green-skinned Zehoberie humanoid is the fiercest female “living weapon” in the galaxy. She has turned her experience and courage into an asset, redeeming herself as a vital member of the Guardians.
Drax – Large, brutally honest, and with no ability to understand metaphors, Drax’s superior strength and combat skills are a huge asset to the Guardians’ missions.
Rocket – Genetically enhanced, this wise-cracking creature looks a lot like a racoon from planet Earth. He’s the go-to Guardians team member when it comes to all thing weapons and tactical.
Groot – If sentient trees could win awards for being lovable, Groot would take first prize. His species is formally known as “Flora colossus” (“giant plant”), and his entire vocabulary is limited to “I am Groot.” But that doesn’t stop him from being an integral member of the Guardians team.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Supporting cast
Nova Prime Irani Rael – She is the leader of the Nova Corps, tasked with protecting the Xandarians and serving as an emissary of peace.
Centurian Tal Marik – Nova Prime’s close advisor, who has taken on the role of commander of the Starcharter and leader of Nova Corps’ peacekeeping efforts. (He is a newly-created character specifically for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind story.)
Celestials – Cosmic beings whose power, size, and scope go beyond all human understanding.
Eson – A Celestial who has been watching Earth for eons. Over time, he has reached his limit when it comes to the course human history is taking, and he is on a mission to do something about it.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Cool places, terms, and concepts
Andromeda Galaxy – Located near the Milky Way, this spiral galaxy is home to the Xandar system.
Xandar – Home world of the peace-loving Xandarians, the paradise-like planet is also the capital of the benevolent Nova Empire governing body.
Terra – Literally translated as “earth” or “land,” it’s the term Xandarians use for the planet Earth, home to the Terrans (you).
Wonders of Xandar Pavilion – Epcot’s first “other world” showcase pavilion that is open to Terrans who would like to learn more about the Xandarians, their culture, and their technologies. During visits to the pavilion, the emphasis is on the commonalities between the two cultures. What could possibly go wrong in such a tranquil place?
Galaxarium – Shaped like a flowing, spiraling theme park queue, this planetarium-style area has an in-ceiling view of the stars and other “intergalactic wonders” that occupy the space between Terra and Xandar.
Worldmind – While in the Galaxarium, visitors to the pavilion will hear the Worldmind supercomputer’s narration. Within it is held the collective knowledge, memory, and experience of all Xandarians.
Xandar Gallery – Display panels that delve into the people, culture, and history of Xandar, with a special emphasis on the planet’s heroes.
“Good Morning Xandar” – Similar to a certain news program on Earth, this Xandarian version of the show features interviews with famous personalities.
Phase Chamber – Teleportation happens, and when it does it happens in this room. Within its confines, people are transported from Terra to an orbiting ship.
Jump Points – Artificial tunnels in space through which rapid travel between vast distance points can be achieved.
Cosmic Generator – Among the Xandarian’s advances in technology is this generator that creates jump points.
Treasures of Xandar – Every good pavilion has a retail space, and this one is no exception.
Nova Corps – Xandar and the Andromeda Galaxy’s defense and peacekeeping force.
Starblaster – A version of this short-range patrol craft is located outside the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, and you can’t miss it. The ship has eight pointed fins that look like a star, and it has the ability to connect with other Starblasters to form a physical barrier.
Starcharter – The large version of a Nova Corps cruiser.
Starjumper – Small escape shuttles that can be launched from a Nova Corps Starcharter.
M-Ship – The personal spacecraft owned by Star-Lord, Peter Quill. Within the ship, the Guardians of the Galaxy have their operations base.
I Am Groot – I am Groot.
