Welcome to another installment of our Attractions Holiday Gift Guide 2024! (Check out our previous stories for “Moana 2” gifts and new Disney history books.) Today we’re sharing a high-tech toy that would stop Andy in his tracks: a Buzz Lightyear robot!

Robosen Robotics collaborated with Disney and Pixar to create the “Toy Story” Buzz Lightyear Robot, a new product that launched sales on Oct. 18, 2024. Standing at 14.6 inches tall and selling for a retail price of $599, this is quite the leap from the posable Buzz action figures of 1995.

Owners of the Buzz Lightyear toy robot can:

  • talk to Buzz with a handful of statements (he’ll talk back!)
  • adjust Buzz to pose in different stances
  • make Buzz move by interacting with an app, or with voice commands
  • program their own movements using Robosen Studio on desktop (coming soon)

The Buzz Lightyear toy robot contains 3,000 components, including an interior labyrinth of 23 high-precision servo motors and 75 microchips.

“This collaboration with Disney and Pixar has allowed us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in toy robotics,” said Hansen Su, co-founder of Robosen. “We are excited to offer fans an innovative and personal way to experience the magic of Buzz Lightyear in a way that has never been done before.”

The Buzz Lightyear toy robot is now available online through Disney Store and Robosen. Buzz is also available in person at Disney Store locations in Times Square, Oxford Street, and Dublin.
