The Sun Princess cruise ship began welcoming passengers from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. for Caribbean cruises on Oct. 14, 2024, and will continue to do so through early April 2025. Before its Florida arrival, the Princess Cruises ship had debuted in February 2024 in the Mediterranean.

The Sun Princess cruise ship features:
- cirque performances in a unique venue dubbed The Dome
- Lotus Spa, the largest casino on any Princess Cruises ship and amassing two stories
- restaurants curated by Romero Britto, Makoto Okuwa, Rudi Sodamin, Dario Cecchini, and Tony Gemignani

The vessel can carry 4,300 guests and weighs 177,882 tons.
“As Sun Princess begins cruising to the Caribbean from Port Everglades, we look forward to introducing new guests to the most impressive, luxurious, and stunning Love Boat ever created,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. (The television series “The Love Boat” was filmed on the cruise line’s ships.) “We are proud to be home-porting this remarkable ship in Ft. Lauderdale and extend our deep appreciation to Port Everglades for their ongoing partnership.”
Prior to joining Princess, Padgett had a long career with Disney which included helping develop the MagicBand. Passengers aboard Princess cruise ships may notice similar innovations onboard; we interviewed Padgett about this technology earlier this year.
