Silver Dollar City sets $500 million expansion plan of 1,200 acres
A Silver Dollar City expansion will span 10 years and 1,200 acres at a cost of $500 million, beginning with an onsite resort hotel.
Herschend Family Entertainment will expand Silver Dollar City over the next decade by spending half a billion dollars to develop 1,200 acres of land surrounding the Branson, Mo. theme park.
The first phase of the expansion will be the opening of Silver Dollar City Resort, an onsite hotel property, in late 2026. Silver Dollar City Resort will contain 262 guest rooms and feature amenities such as pools (both indoors and outside), meeting space, a restaurant, and transportation to the theme park.
Silver Dollar City announced the expansion project on Oct. 17, 2024.
“This is more than just growth — it’s a new era,” said Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts. “Over the next decade, we will mindfully transform 1,200 acres into an authentic, only-in-the-Ozarks destination starting with our first resort. The new resort will combine Silver Dollar City’s spirit of playfulness, discovery, craftsmanship, and exploration with all that makes the Heart of the Ozarks so special.”
Beyond the resort hotel, park personnel promises plenty more projects will be announced in the coming years as the expansion progresses.
In the meantime, a new piece of concept art shows the proximity between the existing park and Silver Dollar City Resort as part of the expansion. Zooming in, we don’t spot anything notable in the theme park itself, but fans may find the illustrations charming nonetheless.
Silver Dollar City belongs to Herschend Family Entertainment, the same parent company as Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., among other attractions.
