Celebrate the ‘Summer of More’ with pirates and princesses at Gaylord Palms Resort
From May 19 through Sept. 4, 2023, guests at Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Fla., can celebrate the “Summer of More” with plenty of pirate- and princess-themed fun.
The “celebration of spirited seafarers and regal royalty” includes shows, activities, hands-on experiences, fun-in-the-sun at Cypress Springs Water Park, and pirate- and princess-themed décor across the 64-acre resort. Plus, families can create treasures in a craft clubhouse, hunt for treasure in a puzzle-filled escape room, see family films at the resort’s water park, and more.
Activities planned for the Summer of More celebration include:
New Kids’ Craft Experience with Pirates and Princesses – Young guests can visit the new Adventure Kids’ Clubhouse to create crafts under the expert tutelage of a pirate from the captain’s crew or a princess from the royal court. Adventure Kids’ Clubhouse will be available on Fridays from 4-8 p.m., then on Saturdays and select dates from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The price is $14.99 + tax per craft.
New Summer Light Show for 2023 – The new complimentary “Illuminate the Night” light show will be presented on LED curtains suspended above the atrium. The nightly spectacle can be viewed from the atrium floor, and guests with select atrium-view rooms can enjoy the show from their balcony.
Pirate’s Treasure Escape Room – Captain Hornswoggle’s bride, Emerald, recruits guests to pillage the captain’s quarters and claim his most valuable gem. But the jewel is well-hidden, and guests must work together to solve puzzles, find the treasure, and escape before Hornswoggle returns in 30 minutes. The Pirate’s Treasure Escape Room is available on Fridays, Saturdays, and select days at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Tickets start at $120 for up to four guests.
Hidden Treasure Hide & Sea-k – The “Pirate Treasure Hide and Sea-k Scavenger Hunt” challenges young guests to search Gaylord Palms’ 4.5-acre garden atrium to find clues and solve riddles using a secret pirate map. The scavenger hunt is offered daily for $12.99 per booklet.
Get to Know Florida’s Wildlife – The resort’s weekly complimentary Animal Encounters showcase some of the state’s indigenous wildlife and show guests how they contribute to the state’s ecosystem during the hottest months of the year. Animal Encounters are available on Saturdays from 5-6 p.m.
Captain’s Quarters Trail – This complimentary indoor trail adorned with shiny loot, pirates’ good luck charms, and mysterious maps provides a bounty of photo opportunities.
Adventure Kids Summer Fun – Families are invited to join the Adventure Kids as Sophie, Seth the Sea Turtle, and Ava the Alligator showcase the wonders of summer in “Adventure Kids: Join The Club,” a complimentary live show that explores conservation, wildlife, and nature through stories and songs. Performances are Saturdays at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Mobile Safari AR Game – The Wildlife Rescue game challenges guests to find specially marked spots in the atrium and use their mobile device and a free augmented reality (AR) app to discover exotic animals from around the world. Once a location is found and scanned with the app, virtual animals appear on-screen, and guests can step into the scene for a photo to share with friends.
Summer Movie Series at the Resort’s Water Park – There’s no better way to beat the summer heat than in Cypress Springs Water Park, featuring seven water slides, two pools, an “action river” attraction, a surf simulator, and a multi-level, water playhouse for kids. On Saturdays at 5 p.m., the water park’s giant outdoor video wall will screen Hollywood family favorites for the complimentary “Summer Dive-In Movie Series.”
