Construction Update: New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom shaping up

By Anthony Armenia

It’s time for another look at Magic Kingdom’s new Fantasyland construction progress. This time we will give you a ground point-of-view of the expansion. A lot of progress has happened since our last post.

Click on any of the photos to enlarge them. Remember, the new Fantasyland is expected to open in stages starting in late 2012.

One of the new castle walls is going vertical.

Rock work in the Beauty and the Beast area is now being painted.

Belle’s cottage is getting its roofing.

Trees have been placed atop the mesh closest to the castle. I’m guessing the trees are temporary for forced perspective testing.

Here is a closer look at the trees.

Rock-work for The Little Mermaid attraction is almost complete. Click Here for a recent behind the scenes look at the attraction.

The building’s rock-work is pretty much complete with paint on the rocks giving it a very oceanside look. Lots of different shades of color are being used.

Bonjour Village Gifts is also coming together pretty well.

More layers are being added to Prince Eric’s castle.

The mesh is located in the building where Scuttle’s Scavenger Hunt is supposed to be located.

Bonjour Village Gifts roof is still in the beginning stages.

The arches for Prince Eric’s castle are now constructed.

The new dueling Dumbos structure is now taking shape in the Storybook Circus area of the new Fantasyland.

The Great Goofini’s Barnstormer coaster is stripped down to almost nothing with only the roof remaining, but no work on the track yet.

The new train station is going vertical and seems to have a more intricate design than the former one.

  1. i am really excited for the opportunity to dine in the Beast’s castle. When they say late 2012, would it be too hopeful to hope for late September?
