Coronavirus – Theme Park and Attraction Closings and Updates
As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, keep an eye on this page to see how it affects the theme parks and attractions in the U.S.
Here are the current closings and updates for domestic theme parks and attractions. We will update this page regularly as more closings are announced:
- Walt Disney World closed on Monday, March 16, and will remain closed until further notice
- Closed parks and attractions include:
- Magic Kingdom
- Epcot
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
- Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
- Disney Springs
- Cirque du Soleil show, “Drawn to Life”
- All Disney Resorts
- Shades of Green is closed
- Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin is closed
- Closed parks and attractions include:
- Walt Disney World Golf and Foot Golf are available on their regular schedules. For Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, you are required to have a confirmed tee time reservation before entering the property
- Best Friends Pet Care is open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- The 2020 runDisney Star Wars Rival Run Weekend has been cancelled
- The event was supposed to take place April 16-19
- All participants who purchased their registrations on runDisney.com will receive a refund for their race registration
- New bookings for Walt Disney World Resort vacations will be available for stays starting June 1, 2020 and later
- Effective April 5, 2020, Walt Disney World will stop and waive all upcoming monthly Annual Pass payments while the parks are closed
- Disney will also refund payments made between March 14 and April 4, 2020
- Payments will resume on the Passholder’s regularly scheduled payment dates once the parks reopen
- Expiration dates will not be extended and passes will expire on their originally scheduled expiration dates
- Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure are closed until further notice
- Disneyland Resort hotels remained open through March 16
- Disney-owned and operated locations within the Downtown Disney District are now closed
- Non-Disney-owned businesses may also close, so be sure to call ahead before visiting or check our updates here
- New bookings for Disneyland Resort vacations will be available for stays starting June 1, 2020 and later
- Disney Cruise Line has suspended all new departures starting Saturday, March 14 through the end of the month
Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa
- Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa is now closed
- New bookings for Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa will be available for stays starting June 1, 2020 and later
- Universal Studios Florida, Island of Adventure and Blue Man Group closed on Monday, March 16, and will remain closed through April 19
- Universal CityWalk closed starting March 17
- All Universal Orlando Resort hotels closed on March 20
- Universal Studios Hollywood closed on March 14 and will remain closed through April 19
- Universal closed its owned and operated venues beginning March 17
- All non-Universal-owned businesses can choose to open for business
- Guests are encouraged to call to confirm operating hours before visiting
- All SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment theme parks are temporarily closed
- These closures include:
- SeaWorld Orlando
- SeaWorld San Diego
- SeaWorld San Antonio
- Discovery Cove
- Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
- Busch Gardens Williamsburg

- Legoland Florida Resort’s theme park and water park are closed until further notice
- Legoland Florida’s resort hotel accommodations will operate within government guidelines for guests with existing reservations
- Because of this updated closure, Legoland Pirate Island Hotel will open on June 1, 2020
- New opening dates for the new water sports stunt show and PirateFest Weekends will be announced soon
- Legoland California Resort is closed until further notice
- The grand opening of The Lego Movie World land expansion has been postponed
- Legoland New York Resort is postponing their grand opening until 2021
- All of Six Flags’ parks will remain closed until mid-May, or “as soon as possible thereafter”
Dollywood
- Dollywood has delayed its 2020 season opening, and anticipates to open in May 2020
- Dolly Parton’s Stampede and Pirates Voyage will be closed starting March 16
- Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins is now closed
- Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins remain open at this time
Pigeon Forge Dinner Shows
- Various dinner show attractions will be closing in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. until May 9
- These closures include:
- The Comedy Barn Theater
- Dolly Parton’s Stampede
- Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud
- Pirates Voyage
- Smoky Mountain Opry
- Knott’s Berry Farm will close on March 14 and remain closed through mid-May
- Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel and California Marketplace are also closed
Great Wolf Resorts
- Great Wolf has closed all of its 19 resorts in 13 states, but have plans to reopen on April 2
- Kings Island is now closed, with hopes that the property will reopen in mid-May
- Kings Dominion is now closed, with hopes that the property will reopen in mid-May
- The Kings Dominion KOA Campground is now also closed
- Cedar Point hopes to open the park in mid-May or “as soon thereafter as possible”
- Carowinds is currently closed, with hopes to reopen the park in mid-May
- Silver Dollar City is delaying its 2020 season opening, with hopes to open in May 2020
- Silver Dollar City Campground remains open at this time
- Operations for the Showboat Branson Belle have been suspended
- Hersheypark will not open for Springtime In The Park during select dates April 4-19
- At this time, the park is planning to open for its 2020 season on May 1
Island H2O Live! Water Park
- Island H2O Live! Water Park is temporarily suspending operations through March 29
- All daily admission tickets and Season Passes previously sold for 2020 will be valid through Nov. 29
- Fun Spot locations in Orlando, Kissimmee and Atlanta are temporarily closing until further notice
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
- Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be temporarily closed starting March 16 until further notice
The Holy Land Experience
- The Holy Land Experience will be closed from March 15 through April 10
Gatorland
- Gatorland will be closed starting March 18, 2020, and will continually monitor the situation to determine a reopening date
Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park
- Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park is open and operating as normal at this time
- Closed until further notice
Madame Tussauds Orlando
- Closed until further notice
SeaLife Orlando
- Closed until further notice
- Bok Tower Gardens will close on March 13 at 5 p.m. and will not reopen until Friday, April 3
Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
- Only Buccaneer Bay Waterpark will remain open at this time
- All other activities will be closed until further notice, effective immediately
Main Event entertainment complexes
- Main Event will close all of its centers nationwide starting Tuesday, March 17
- All locations will be closed through at least the end of March
The Void
- The Void will be temporarily closing all of their locations, effective March 31, 2020
Wonderworks
- All locations are closed until further notice
Ripley’s Believe It or Not
- All locations in the U.S. and Canda are closed
ZooTampa
- ZooTampa is temporarily closed from March 16-29
Wild Florida
- The Drive-Thru Safari Park closed on April 4
Crayola Experience
- Crayola Experience is temporarily shutting down all of its locations and stores until further notice
- Locations include:
- Easton, Pa.
- Orlando, Fla.
- Bloomington, Minn. (Mall of America)
- Plano, Texas
- Chandler, Ariz.
- San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park will be temporarily closed starting Monday, March 16
- The parks plan to reopen on April 1
- American Dream will be closing due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic on Monday, March 16
- The mall is anticipated to be closed through the end of the month
- The grand opening of the DreamWorks Animation Water Park has been postponed, and information about a new date will be shared soon
Las Vegas
- MGM Resorts International is temporarily suspending operations at all of its Las Vegas properties on Tuesday, March 17 until further notice

- Bellagio Hotel and Casino – “O” by Cirque du Soleil
- Excalibur Hotel & Casino

- Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood will close on Friday, March 13 until further notice
- Paramount and Sony Pictures are also stopping their studio tours until further notice
Movie Theaters
- Starting Tuesday, March 17, all AMC locations in the U.S. will close
- Starting Tuesday, March 17, all Regal theatres will remain closed until further notice
- As of Monday, March 16, all Alamo Drafthouse Cinema corporate-owned locations, and all but one franchise-owned locations, are closed until further notice
- All Cinemark locations are closed as of Wednesday, March 18, and will be closed until they believe it is safe to open again
All major cruise lines are also not operating at this time.
Outside of the U.S., many theme parks have also shuttered due to the spread of the coronavirus. Those parks include:
- Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios parks have closed and will remain closed through the end of the month
- Disney Village will be closed as of Saturday, March 14
- Disneyland Paris’ resort hotels will follow suit with closures as its current guests depart
- Currently closed through April 20 or later
- Grand opening of Tokyo Disneyland expansions postponed to mid-May 2020 or beyond
- Currently closed but in the early stages of a phased reopening
- A limited number of shopping, dining, and recreational experiences are available in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel
- Disney Car and Coach Park and Disneytown Parking Lot are open
- Hong Kong Disneyland Park is temporarily closed
- No reopening date has been set
- If needed, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will assist in the refund for guests who have purchased admission to the park or have booked a resort hotel
- Currently closed through March 31
- A reopening date will be announced as soon as it is determined
- MotionGate Dubai has temporarily suspended operations until March 31, after which the situation will be re-evaluated
- Due to the government’s recommendations and recent tightened restrictions on COVID-19, Tivoli has decided to postpone the opening by 14 days until April 16
These are just the closings and operation changes we have heard about so far across the U.S., including some major international closures. If you are planning to visit any of these places, or your own local attractions in the near future, it is best to call ahead to make sure they are in operation.

We have a trip booked to Legoland California and sadly Disneyland starting 3/23. Disneyland is closed obviously. Legoland is currently offering one time rescheduling with a $50 fee for those without their flexible trip add-on. You must know your new trip date though.
They should offer reservations changes for free.
Leave everything closed for a good while. Better safe than sorry.

In some cases, yes. It is best for you to contact the park or parks you were planning on visiting for more information.
San Diego Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park are closed through April 1st effective today! The above article needs to be corrected
What happens to the international students who came over to attend DCP? I heard US cancelled a lot of flights. They literally have no where to go.
Although prevention is better than cure. We will show dissapointment. Better be safe than sorry
Will they be open in time for the Summer?
We hope so, but it is also possible for them to extend their closures if the situation at hand doesn’t improve. Most closings are scheduled through the end of the month, for now.
The Grove Resort and Waterpark in Kissimmee is open. The arcade made a mint yesterday! People everywhere. Looks like a upcoming hot spot for Coronavirus. 🙁
this is just sad i was going to take my daughter there for her birthday she’s been begging for 3 years finaly have the funds so she can also bring her friends
