‘Daredevil: Born Again’ full season review + FAQ
“Daredevil: Born Again” is an epic return to the world of Daredevil — and everything we ever wished for. Though this new Disney+ show is a direct continuation of the popular Netflix series, it manages to feel exactly like it used to while also feeling like something entirely new.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is exactly what we asked for
If you ask any Marvel fan what their favorite Marvel series is, I’m willing to bet 90% of them would say “Daredevil,” which streamed on Netflix from 2015-2018 (pre-Disney+). That show was, as the kids say, PEAK. It had just about everything you could ask for when it comes to a Daredevil show: creative action, great acting, emotional depth, and a very grounded feel.
I remember watching the first season twice when it came out and watching the second season at 3 a.m. the night it released. I was a fan of the series, to say the least, and in 2018 when Marvel announced the cancellation of the show, I was devastated. That devastation quickly turned to excitement because only a few years later the studio announced it would be bringing the series back — and this time, the show would be officially part of the MCU.

Despite the excitement, I had reservations. I knew the series was going to Disney+, and the original show was so brutal I wasn’t sure the platform would be able to live up to its Netflix predecessor. Having watched all nine episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again,” I can confidently say I WAS WRONG.
Gripping and as brutal as ever
This is going to be incredibly hard to review a nine-episode Marvel season without giving away too much. So I’ll keep this as simple as possible …
Let’s start with the tone. It took the show less than 10 minutes to prove to me how seriously the “Daredevil: Born Again” team was not messing around. The amount of emotion felt in the first 10 minutes sets the tone for the rest of the season. It’s brutal, emotional, and incredibly well pieced together.

The cast is phenomenal (new and returning), but the anchors of the show are Charlie Cox (as Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (as Wilson Fisk). The two’s chemistry feels like the show never ended, picking up right where they left off. It’s been expressed in the past about the previous series, but Cox and D’Onofrio were meant to play these parts. They live and breathe them.

The original Netflix series took some really big creative swings with action, and I was very pleased to find that the creativity has brought itself to “Daredevil: Born Again.” It’s gripping and brutal as ever.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ FAQs
For this portion of the review, I’d like to answer some questions I’ve seen people asking on social media
Is ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ a direct continuation of the Netflix series?
Yes, the characters and events of the Netflix series are the groundwork of “Daredevil: Born Again.”
Does ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ really have a TV-MA rating?
Yes, there’s heavy cursing (Matt Murdock has a potty mouth) and maybe I need to rewatch the original series to jog my memory, but “Daredevil: Born Again” may be even gorier than its already-violent predecessor series.

Are there any MCU surprises?
While filmmakers make it abundantly clear that “Daredevil: Born Again” takes place in the MCU we know very well, don’t get your hopes up for some wild cameo.
Which episodes of ‘Daredevil Born Again’ are your favorite?
Episodes 1, 5, and 8.
An incredible follow-up
“Daredevil: Born Again” is an incredible follow-up to the popular Netflix series, which makes it an incredible achievement for Marvel. I will say my only gripe with the season is that there isn’t enough “lawyering,” which is fine because the story doesn’t call for it as much as some of the other seasons did. I couldn’t be happier with this season and plan on watching week to week with everyone else.

The first two episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” are now streaming on Disney+. New episodes release every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
The original three seasons of “Daredevil,” formerly on Netflix, are also streaming on Disney+.
