Disney+ Day kicks off weeklong global celebration

Ahead of Disney+ Day on Friday, Nov. 12, Disney has announced a whole week of company-wide promotions and extra content to celebrate the release anniversary for the streaming platform.

To thank fans for their support over the past two years, Disney+ subscribers can enjoy special benefits, including extra time at Disney Parks around the world, shopDisney deals, exclusive first-looks and more.

“Since launching two years ago, Disney+ has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences around the world with its best-in-class originals and robust library of beloved films and series,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution. “With Disney+ Day, we are creating an unparalleled experience for our subscribers as only The Walt Disney Company can.”

Celebrations at the Disney Parks

Specifically for theme park guests, those who subscribe to Disney+ and have a valid ticket or pass and theme park reservation on Nov. 12 can enjoy special benefits at Disney’s theme parks, with some extra surprises in store! Subscribers and their travel party will be able to enter Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort 30 minutes before the parks open. In addition, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland park will roll out the blue carpet for guests with special character moments, photo-ops and more. Subscribers will also be able to take advantage of complimentary Disney PhotoPass downloads taken at select locations.

Disneyland Paris will also roll out the blue carpet at Walt Disney Studios Park with special character experiences and photo-ops throughout the day. The park will extend its operating hours by 30 minutes for guests to enjoy as the Tower of Terror attraction lights up the night in “Disney+ blue.”

Other offerings from Consumer Products

shopDisney will offer free shipping in the U.S. and Europe from Nov. 12-14 to Disney+ subscribers. In addition, starting today, Nov. 8, in the U.S. and for a limited time, shopDisney will offer new customizable products from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel including short sleeve and long sleeve T-shirts for kids and adults from Disney+ favorites like “Raya and the Last Dragon,” “Luca,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and “Loki.”

Disney Publishing Worldwide will offer select eBooks at $0.99 today through Nov. 17, which will include stories behind series like “Loki,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” and “The Mandalorian.”

Disney and VeVe, the largest mobile-first digital collectible platform, have announced a collaboration to launch a series of NFTs titled “Golden Moments” — golden statues inspired by stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and The Simpsons. These new digital collectibles were available daily starting Nov. 7, and will lead up to Disney+ Day with a special “Ultra Rare” release.

Disney and Funko will team up to offer an exclusive 10% off Disney+ products from Nov. 12-14 on Funko.com and at their two retail locations, Funko HQ in Everett, Wash. and Funko Hollywood in Los Angeles, Calif. Customers can use the promo code “DISNEYPLUSDAY” online, and the discount will automatically be applied when shopping in-store.

WizKids and Disney will be offering an exclusive 5% off Disney product and a Marvel gift with purchase to celebrate Disney+ Day from Nov. 8-14 on ShopWizKids.com. Customers can use the promo code “DISNEYPLUSDAY.”

In addition, Disney will team up with Target to host in-store activations on Nov. 12-14 in nearly 800 Target stores across the U.S. as part of a joint commitment to “create new experiences for guests.” Target shoppers will have the ability to sign up for the Disney+ Day offer and receive special giveaways.

From Nov. 12-14, over 200 AMC Theatres will celebrate Disney+ Day with four daily surprise screenings. Each movie will feature a surprise short, and guests won’t know which movie is being shown until the screening begins. Tickets are $5 each, and guests will receive a free Disney+ post and a special concession offer with their ticket purchase. You can check out the list of participating AMC locations here.

Celebrations on Disney networks

In addition to weeklong Disney+ Day takeovers, talent shout-outs, and special show integrations on Disney-owned networks, “Good Morning America” will celebrate the big day live from Times Square on Nov. 12 with special guests from Disney+ shows and spotlights on the coast-to-coast celebrations at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney+ premieres, first looks and more

On Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 a.m. PT, fans can follow along with @DisneyPlus on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips, and appearances from Disney+ creators and stars for upcoming content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and in select international territories, Star.

Disney+ subscribers will also be treated to exclusive on-platform specials from Pixar Animation Studios premiering at 8 a.m. PT and from Marvel Studios premiering at 8:45 a.m. PT, and other surprise sneak peeks.

Additional content will make their streaming debuts on Nov. 12, including:

  • A new documentary titled “The Making of Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles” about Billie Eilish’s recent Disney+ cinematic concert experience
  • “Marvel Assembled: The Making of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings,” a docu-special chronicling the creation of the recent Marvel Studios’ theatrical release
  • “Marvel Studios Legends: Hawkeye,” an episode that revisits all of Hawkeye’s epic moments from the MCU in preparation for the upcoming Disney+ Original Series
  • The live-action/animated musical fantasy romantic comedy film “Enchanted” from 2007, starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey
  • The recent Disney Channel Original Movie “Spin,” where Rhea, an Indian American teen, discovers her passion for creating DJ mixes that blend her South Asian culture and the world around her
  • All episodes of “Fancy Nancy” season 3, which will launch day and date with its premiere on Disney Junior

Disney+ Day limited offer and promotions

To celebrate the first two years of the streaming service, Disney+ is hosting a special limited-time offer. From now until Sunday, Nov. 14, new and eligible returning subscribers in the U.S. and select countries can get one month of Disney+ for $1.99 (then $7.99 per month) by signing up at DisneyPlus.com/DisneyPlusDay.

Also happening this week will be Disney+ pop-ups in cities around the world with larger-than-life icons and characters from the service’s marquee brands. The activation began in New York City today, and will continue in Nashville on Nov. 10, followed by Los Angeles on Nov. 12.
