Disney Genie Service coming to Disneyland Resort starting Dec. 8

Disney has finally announced a start date for the Disney Genie Service, the next era of Disney FastPass+ and MaxPass, to be offered at Disneyland Resort.

Disney Genie Service will launch for guests at Disneyland Resort starting Dec. 8, 2021. Built into the existing Disneyland app, the Disney Genie service offers guests the chance to maximize their day at the parks with return times to select attractions, recommendations, and more.

This launch also includes Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane, a paid version of the service that offers time-saving access to select popular attractions. Guests can access the Lightning Lane of their desired attractions in two ways:

1. Disney Genie+

Disney Genie+ will be available at Disneyland Resort for $20 per ticket per day, and allows you to select the next available arrival window for Lightning Lane entrances at a variety of attractions, one at a time (subject to limited availability, and a limit of one Lightning Lanes selection per experience per day).

This option also includes unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads from the day, as well as new audio experiences that let you “discover the parks in cool new ways” with behind-the-scenes insights.

Disney Genie+ can be purchased in the Disneyland app after you’ve entered the park and linked your park ticket. After Dec. 8, guests can also choose to purchase Genie+ prior to their visit upon purchasing a park ticket. Guests can make Lightning Lane arrival window selections as soon as they enter a theme park.

2. Individual Lightning Lane entrance selection

The “a la carte” option allows guests to purchase individual Lightning Lane arrival windows for some of Disneyland’s most popular attractions:

• Radiator Springs Racers
• WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
• Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Pricing for this option can vary by date and attraction, so be sure to check the Disneyland app on the day of your visit for the latest prices. If you go with this option, you can purchase the next available arrival window, one at a time, for up to two attractions per day.

This service is, of course, optional for guests and not a required purchase in order to visit and enjoy what Disneyland Resort has to offer. In addition to Disney Genie and Lightning Lane, attractions will continue to offer a traditional standby queue, with virtual queue also available at select attractions.
