Disney Wish’s little-known Toddler Time was exactly what our family needed
Families sailing Disney Wish with toddlers may want to keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for a little-known offering called Toddler Time. During a recent sailing, the one-hour open play session ended up being the perfect way for our family to let the kids burn off energy before dinner while enjoying a space typically reserved for Disney’s youngest cruisers.

As a Platinum Castaway Club member sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line for nearly 20 cruises, the only thing entirely new on my third voyage aboard the Disney Wish that I expected to find were the new Bluey activities.
Yet during a recent four-night sailing, I stumbled upon a little-known offering called Toddler Time, and it ended up being one of the most useful experiences of the entire trip.
Traveling with family from Illinois, we were helping coordinate nursery plans for two toddlers before dinner on the second evening of our cruise when I noticed something unusual. The door leading into Mickey and Minnie’s Captain’s Deck play area was open.
Inside, toddlers, preschoolers, parents, and caregivers were enjoying an hour of free play in the colorful indoor space normally reserved for children ages three to four participating in supervised youth activities.

The offering, known as Toddler Time, appeared in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and was available from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the second evening and again on the final evening of our sailing.
What is Toddler Time on Disney Cruise Line?
From what we saw and in talking with Disney Cruise Line youth activities crew members, Mickey and Minnie’s Captain’s Deck is typically used by three and four-year-olds participating in Disney’s Oceaneer Club programming. The space is also sometimes utilized by younger guests from “it’s a small world” nursery when capacity allows.
During select sailings, Disney may open the area for Toddler Time, allowing parents and caregivers to accompany younger children into the space for supervised family play.
While the experience is designed with toddlers in mind, our group found it worked well for a range of ages. Our toddlers explored the interactive play features while my eight-year-old happily joined in as well.

A perfect pre-dinner break
The timing couldn’t have been better. With Toddler Time offered from 5 to 6 p.m., our group was able to let the kids burn off energy in a safe, enclosed environment right before sitting down for dinner.
Anyone who has cruised with toddlers knows that the hour before dinner can sometimes be one of the trickiest parts of the day. After a busy afternoon onboard, younger children often need an opportunity to move, climb, and play before transitioning into a seated meal.
For our family, Toddler Time provided exactly that.
The space functions almost like an indoor playground, complete with opportunities for imaginative play, exploration, and hands-on interaction. We parents guarded the exit while our kids played together.

Disney designed Toddler Time with young families in mind
During a media panel aboard Disney Wish, Cruise Director Kara explained that Disney Cruise Line has spent years refining experiences for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers based on guest feedback.
That philosophy extends beyond youth activities and into the staterooms themselves.
“We’ve learned that we need spaces for toddlers too,” Kara said while discussing Disney Cruise Line’s family-focused offerings.
She pointed to features such as blackout curtains, bathtubs in staterooms, dedicated splash zones for diapered children, and the specialized environment within “it’s a small world” nursery.
Kara also highlighted Toddler Time as an intentional offering that gives young children a dedicated place to play alongside their parents and caregivers.

In the Captain’s Deck area, children can climb, explore, push buttons, and even pretend to steer the ship. According to Kara, the space was designed to encourage active, purposeful play for younger cruisers.

“We do have Toddler Time that we’ll have a space that’s just dedicated to the toddlers and to the parents so they can have interactive play,” she explained.
At one point during our visit, all four kids in our party gathered together to “drive the ship” and engage with hands-on buttons and mechanisms.
One of my favorite discoveries on Disney Wish
As a Platinum Castaway Club member on my third sailing aboard Disney Wish and nearly 20 Disney cruises overall, I was surprised I had never encountered Toddler Time before.
Kara noted that the offering is often easier to find on longer sailings, which may explain why it had never crossed my radar. After spending an hour there with our family, I was grateful we stumbled upon it.
One of my favorite parts of this sailing was discovering that there are still experiences waiting to be found. Toddler Time wasn’t advertised as a major onboard attraction, but for our family, it ended up being one of the most useful hours of the entire cruise.
