To commemorate World Wish Day – the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish – Disneyland dedicated three Make-A-Wish windows on Main Street, U.S.A.

Disneyland Resort was part of the first official wish Make-A-Wish granted, and since then, the 40+-year partnership between Disney and Make-A-Wish, has made almost 150,000 wishes come true, making Disney the largest Make-A-Wish wish granter in the world.

“Since we began partnering with Make-A-Wish in 1980, wish granting has been in our DNA,” said Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock.”At every level across the company, Disney cast members are passionate about working with Make-A-Wish to create hope, happiness and make dreams come true.”

The window dedication ceremony was attended by Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Leslie Motter, and Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock, along with the moms of the two wish kids who were honored.

Disneyland window dedications are traditionally reserved for people who significantly impacted the resort’s history. However, yesterday’s Main Street U.S.A. window dedication marks the first time in Disneyland’s history that even one window has been dedicated to a non-profit organization, let alone three.

The new Make-A-Wish windows include a center window dedicated to the organization and all the wish kids past, present, and future. The two side windows honor Chris Greicius – whose wish inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish – and Frank “Bopsy” Salazar, the first official wish granted by Make-A-Wish (and first Disney wish). The mothers of Chris and Bopsy were present at yesterday’s window dedication along with six kids on their wish visits to Disneyland.

The Make-A-Wish windows are above the Wish Lounge, a place for wish kids and their families to relax during their visit. In addition to designing the windows, Walt Disney Imagineering and artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios collaborated on the design for the Wish Lounge, inspired by Disney Animation’s upcoming animated film, “Wish,” releasing November 2023.

Guests can join the World Wish Day celebration with the Wishes Come True Disney PhotoPass lens, now available as a complimentary offering for all guests in the Disneyland app and My Disney Experience app at Walt Disney World Resort. The lens will be available until the end of May.
