Disneyland Lunar New Year celebration returns in January
The zodiac calendar shapes traditions, holidays, and foods enjoyed in Asian communities all over the globe, and from Jan. 20 through Feb. 15, 2023, the Disneyland Lunar New Year celebration will commemorate the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac calendar and the Year of the Cat in recognition of the Vietnamese zodiac calendar.
Highlights of the popular annual celebration include the return of “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” (which will be extended from Paradise Gardens through Hollywood Land) and the nighttime water show, “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration,” a heartwarming water show presented before “World of Color” that tells the tale of a little lantern’s quest to reunite with family.
Beginning Jan. 20, 2023, guests can meet Raya from the Disney Animation film “Raya and the Last Dragon” in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
The 2023 Disneyland Lunar New Year celebration also features festival arts and crafts and Disney characters like Mulan, Mushu, Mickey, and Minnie in festive attire.
This year, two Marketplaces called Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love will join returning favorites Lucky 8 Lantern, Prosperity Bao & Buns, Red Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. Guests can purchase a Sip and Savor pass to enjoy six food and non-alcoholic beverage selections from participating marketplaces and dining locations.
“Disney California Adventure park will usher in the Lunar New Year with a joyous tribute to Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures with a multicultural celebration filled with auspicious wishes for the new year,” wrote Disneyland Public Relations Director Kelsey Lynch in the Disney Parks Blog.
