Disney’s ‘Capture Your Moment’ service may be picture perfect for you

Family vacations at Walt Disney World are full of magical moments, but sometimes it’s hard to get those Christmas card pics, engagement shots, or family photos at a crowded theme park. Luckily, Disney PhotoPass offers a “Capture Your Moment” package, which could be a picture perfect opportunity to capture all your Walt Disney World memories.

Capture Your Moment” is available in 20-minute increments at all four Walt Disney World theme parks. Reservations are preferred, but Disney notes that limited day-of appointments can be made as well.

PhotoPass photographers have been snapping memories at Disney Parks for years (and will be doing so for years to come), but this private photo session offers continual focus on just you and yours, which allows you to get that big family photo you need on your trip. Or, it can be the perfect couples engagement or anniversary session.

“Capture Your Moment” sessions can also be stacked. You could spend the first 20 minutes in one area, then pop the engagement question. After the celebration, the kiss, and wiping away the tears, you could then use the second session for immediate engagement photos in a different area of the park.

We are definitely in the age of the iPhone, and while smartphone cameras are certainly impressive, you can see the difference when a professional photographer is using professional equipment. Also, compared to your standard private photography session, Disney’s offering is a great deal, with pricing beginning at $99 for a single session for up to eight people. Also, while the sessions are officially limited to 20 minutes, some guests have reached out to social media saying they were given extra time.

Unfortunately, nothing is perfect, and the initial $99 fee does not include the photos taken; however, there are a few ways to work with this. One is that Annual Passholders with the PhotoPass add-on can get these photos for free. In addition, those who purchased Memory Maker for their trip will also have these photos included.

You can also purchase a one-day Memory Maker add-on for $69 or opt to just print-out specific “Capture Your Moment” photos for select fees.

I would take this suggestion one step farther to increase your savings. Walt Disney World has announced that attraction ride photos will be a part of the Genie+ service in the near future. This means all your ride photos for the day will be added into your account. Plus, Disney character attendants and PhotoPass cast members can snap family photos on your own device when you meet your favorite pals, like Mickey Mouse. This is important, especially since the automated photo boxes keep getting added to character meet and greets with less than desirable outcomes.

That means you could get your ride photos for the day for $15 and photos with the characters for free on your own device, and then spend that the money you saved on a “Capture Your Moment” photos session. And let’s be honest, you probably aren’t going to look “photo ready” at the end of a 95º day running around the parks, but instead, you can pick a specific day to come dressed your best and get a professional set of photos all at once. Win-win.

Capture Your Moment” is offered at all four Walt Disney World theme parks. Reservations can be booked on specific days, but these reservations are also per-park. Magic Kingdom could be full on certain a day, but Epcot or Hollywood Studios could be available. Make sure to check each of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom links to find a day that works for you.

But that’s not all. Disney PhotoPass also offers augmented reality lenses to use with the Genie+ service. Here, you take the photography and AR lenses into your own hands to create magical selfies and snapshots.
