New Disney PhotoPass augmented reality lenses debut at Disney World

Walt Disney World Resort recently launched Disney PhotoPass augmented reality (AR) lenses as a new way to add Disney-themed effects to photos and videos — and now, there are several new lenses to make theme park photos and videos even more fun to save and share.

Thanks to the newest PhotoPass AR lenses, guests can demonstrate icy powers like Elsa, adopt a “hakuna matata” philosophy with Timon, avoid the clutches of the Yeti, accessorize with cool sunglasses that reflect magical icons, and sample sweet and salty snacks.

Many of the PhotoPass AR lenses can be used across the resort, while others (like the Timon and Expedition Everest lenses) will only be available exclusively in specific areas of the parks. The new lenses, as well as the current collection, are available through the My Disney Experience app with the purchase of the Disney Genie+ service.

In addtion to the AR lenses available through the My Disney Experience app, a select sampling of lenses is also complimentary through the Snapchat app.

“One of [the Snapchat] lenses is themed to ‘Lady and the Tramp,’” notes Marketing & Communications Coordinator Emily Southard in the Disney Parks Blog. “Since you can access this lens at home, I invite you and your favorite furry friend to share a plate of spaghetti on a ‘Bella Notte.’”

Whether enjoying the lenses through the My Disney Experience app or the Snapchat app, fans can share favorite photos and videos by tagging #DisneyPhotoPass for a chance to be featured on Disney’s social media pages.
