Disney’s Tampa call center celebrates 25 years of vacation planning
When you call Disney to plan a magical vacation, you’re calling the cast members at Disney’s Tampa call center, which is celebrating over 25 years of operations in Tampa, Fla., this week.
More than 600 cast members at the Disney Central call center in Tampa answer calls, chats, and emails from thousands of guests planning their Disney vacations. To mark the magical milestone and congratulate the team, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor issued a proclamation declaring May 11, 2023, “Celebrate Disney Cast Members Day” in the City of Tampa.
“For more than 25 years, our cast members in Tampa have made magic for millions of guests by helping them plan their dream vacations to Walt Disney World in Florida,” said Maryann Smith, Vice President of Customer Experience. “We’re so proud of these cast members for all they do at Disney and in our community.”
Disney’s Tampa call center is located about 70 miles southwest of Cinderella Castle, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less a part of the Walt Disney World family. In fact, Mickey Mouse and Pluto visited the center to hand (and paw) deliver the most iconic symbols of being a Disney cast member – newly-designed name tags just for Walt Disney World.
Fun Fact: Many of the new name tags were manufactured in Tampa by a local business.
The Tampa-based Disney team also participated in a special volunteer activity through the Disney VoluntEARS program to create a hand-painted mural of Disney characters through the Foundation for Hospital Art. The colorful mural was delivered to AdventHealth for Children (part of AdventHealth Tampa) to bring Disney magic to patients and their families.
