When the family-friendly attraction returns, guests will be able to see Dory’s friend (and caper accomplice) – Hank, the septopus from Pixar’s “Finding Dory” – perched on a rock in the lagoon.

Along with the reopening announcement, Disneyland shared a new video that gives a behind-the-scenes look at how the teams at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disneyland Resort, and Pixar Animation Studios gave the attraction some much-needed TLC during its extended closure, including more coral, new paint, fresh kelp and seaweed, and enhanced special effects and lighting.

“This is a special attraction […] due to the nostalgia of it […] and we’re here to bring it back bigger, brighter, and better than ever,” said Producer Michele Hobbs. “We’ve added over 3,000 pieces of coral, 12,000 lineal feet of seaweed – that’s almost two miles of seaweed – so this is a spectacular renovation,” said Producer Michele Hobbs. “You’re going to see brand new color, all new lighting, great special effects, and projections, bringing back all of those characters that you know and love.”
