First wedding & engagement at Epic Universe? Couples elope, propose in Isle of Berk
The paint was barely dry on How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Universal Epic Universe when a couple tied the Viking knot in the brand-new theme park world.

To recreate the wedding of Hiccup and Astrid in “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (2019), Erin and Tim Ames donned their best Viking-inspired attire to get married in How to Train Your Dragon – The Isle of Berk on May 16, 2025, just shy of a week before the park officially opened on May 22, 2025.
With four highly-themed worlds in Universal Orlando Resort’s newest park, we expect many couples will want to get married in wizarding-, Nintendo-, or monster-themed style.
According to Erin, elopements are permitted at all Universal parks as long as you aren’t blocking any guest traffic. In fact, she noted on TikTok that many Team Members even watched their ceremony.
This isn’t the first theme park wedding we’ve covered—and we’re sure it won’t be the last. However, Erin pointed out that Disney does not allow elopements in their theme parks, so if you’re considering a wedding in Galaxy’s Edge, think again.

Hi! My name is Marissa and my husbands name is Sam. I’m a team member and he a former team member. We were actually the first couple lucky enough to make Epic universe our wedding venue. We had a small ceremony on April 15th 2025 which was the 15th anniversary of when we started dating. We did the ceremony at 7pm in Place Cachee outside Bar Moonshine at the metal gazebo. We had an incredible time even being surprised with butterbeer crepes by the cafe management team. It was a small ceremony but we gave an amazing time. A work friend had told me about your article after we were speaking about my husband and I wanting to go back to epic this year for our anniversary for a fun little anniversary photo shoot.
