Meet the couple who said ‘I doom’ at the first Halloween Horror Nights wedding

In 2010, we wrote about Universal Orlando’s first Halloween Horror Nights Wedding contest, but it turns out that wasn’t the first Halloween Horror Nights wedding.

Halloween Horror Nights began in 1991 (then called Universal Studios Fright Nights). On Oct. 30, 1992, Raymond and Aimee Foster “tied the noose” at the first Halloween Horror Nights wedding – and they’re still happily haunting each other 31 years later.

How did you get the idea to get married at Halloween Horror Nights?

We had decided to attend Halloween Horror Nights with a few friends, so my wife contacted Universal to ask if we could have a notary meet us in the park at some point during the night for a quick ceremony. They said they would call us back, and when they did, they asked if we would be interested in them promoting our wedding with all expenses paid (including our friend’s tickets and a two-day stay at the Twin Tower hotels).

Did your families think it was a crazy idea?

Both our families were very excited – and yes, they thought that it was wild! Because it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, our family was unable to be there, but Universal took pictures and did a videotaping of the wedding they were able to see afterward.

So, this spontaneous idea turned into a dream wedding – or nightmare, as the case may be?

Even though it wasn’t planned, Universal made it feel and look like it was planned for a while. We felt really blessed to be able to have such a nice wedding and be part of the first wedding at Halloween Horror Nights.

Is there anything else our readers should know?

We’re still happily married, and it all started that wonderful night. It actually inspired us to have a haunted trail Halloween party for about three years in a row, where we had up to a couple hundred friends and family help celebrate our anniversary,

We still enjoy going to Halloween Horror Nights because it is always a blast – and I would definitely recommend getting married there!

There’s Still Time to Tie the Noose

Halloween Horror Nights continues through Oct. 31, 2023, at Universal Studios Hollywood and through Nov. 4, 2023, at Universal Orlando Resort. Click here for details.
