‘Gladiator 2’ Airbnb LARP battle at real Roman Colosseum; first in 2,000 years
You can become a gladiator and battle in the real Roman Colosseum in Italy during a two-day-only LARP experience with Airbnb based on “Gladiator 2.”
‘Are you not entertained?’
The Colosseum in Rome, Italy will become an entertainment venue once more for the first time in nearly two millennium as Airbnb and Paramount create a three-hour “Gladiator 2”-themed LARP (live action role play) experience.
Visitors will arrive to the Roman Colosseum after dark, after which point their journey will include visiting the underground chambers, donning the armor of a gladiator, enjoying a pre-battle spread of fruit and nuts, training for their big moment, and lastly facing off against an opponent. Needless to say (but we’ll say it anyway), this is not a fight to the death. A referee will declare one of the gladiators the victor.
“May you taste the sweetness of glory with infestus pollex,” Airbnb Icons encourages prospective guests, “and join the ranks of victorious gladiators since time immemorial.”
As part of the “Gladiator 2” collaboration, Airbnb will help support the restoration of the Colosseum’s permanent exhibition.
How to book the ‘Gladiator 2’ Airbnb battle at the Roman Colosseum
Rather than being available for traditional reservations, Airbnb Icons rental properties are request-only, and requests cost a grand total of $0. In the case of the “Gladiator 2″ Colosseum experience, Airbnb will host three-hour visits rather than an overnight experience.
Booking requests will open Nov. 27 – Dec. 9, 2024 in the Airbnb app, and visits will take place from May 7-8, 2025. 32 lucky winners will be chosen, and each winner can bring a +1 with them.
To request a visit to the Airbnb Icons “Gladiator 2″ Colosseum experience:
- Open the Airbnb app.
- From the app’s home page, find the Icons category.
- Select the “Gladiator 2″ option as your rental property.
- Request to book, choose your dates, and add your guest.
- Explain why you’d like to go.
From there, Airbnb will randomly choose a set of potential guests. After that, they’ll review the answers of why guests want to visit and invite selected guests to book the “Gladiator 2” Colosseum experience in Rome.
