Popcorn bucket, but make it ‘Gladiator’

“Are you not entertained?”

When “Gladiator 2” hits theaters in November, audience members who purchase the film’s popcorn bucket at Cinemark Theatres can keep the entertainment going even after the end credits roll.

For starters, the “Gladiator 2” popcorn bucket resembles a Roman arena. Once customers finish all of their popcorn and head home, they can scan a QR code at the bottom of the bucket. After doing so, their popcorn bucket will become a virtual gladiator arena with the help of augmented reality technology. Cinemark is calling it the “Gladiator 2” AR-ena, as announced on X.

The QR code registers as gladiatorpopcornbucket.com, which redirects to a link not currently active at the time of this writing.

Cinemark is also selling an alternate design, this one positing itself as Maximus’ helmet! It’s available online for $25. What a time to be alive. There are no augmented reality components for this design.
