[Updated with new prices] Cake Bake Shop Bakery at Disney’s BoardWalk inflates menu prices by as much as 100%
The Cake Bake Shop Bakery, a new dining location at Disney’s BoardWalk, will charge inflated menu prices when compared to its own other locations and other Disney eateries.
Update, Oct. 24, 2024: The Cake Bake Shop Bakery is now open, with its menu slightly differently priced than previously revealed. 11 menu items have increased in price, 34 decreased, 24 stayed the sam price, and, if Disney’s online menu is to be believed, nine items disappeared altogether. (The most significant slash is the All-Butter Croissant, going from $12 to $6!) Below is our story analyzing the original menu prices, published Oct. 15, 2024. For clarity’s sake, we noted the new prices in the full menu listings at the end of the story and struck through the previous prices.
This bakery be a splurge, even for Disney vacationers
The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers recently posted its menus outside of its future locations at Disney’s BoardWalk in Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla. The pair of establishments includes The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant (a table-service restaurant serving full meals) and The Cake Bake Shop Bakery (a walk-in store serving desserts and drinks).
Situated along the BoardWalk promenade at the former site of ESPN Club, The Cake Bake Shop locations are within walking distance from the back entrance of Epcot. Disney hasn’t announced an opening date.

The menu for The Cake Bake Shop Bakery is another example of Disney inflation, the act the same items’ prices increasing over time at a faster rate at Disney theme parks than at non-Disney locations. Theme park dining isn’t exactly known for its bargains, but The Cake Bake Shop Bakery’s Disney menu is pricier than The Cake Bake Shop’s two other establishments (Carmel City Center and Broad Ripple Village, both in Indiana) and pricier than comparable menu items at other Disney restaurants.
For comparison, cakes cost $16-$17 at The Cake Bake Shop’s Indiana locations. At Disney’s BoardWalk, the same cakes on the menu cost $22-$26. Prices for pies are similarly spiked: $12-$16 in Indiana, $18-$26 at Disney. The lemon bar in particular makes a significant leap in price, going from $9 in Indiana to $16 at Disney. This trend continues throughout the entire menu.
Compared to other options at Disney World — including BoardWalk Deli literally next door — The Cake Bake Shop Bakery still charges higher prices for similar menu items. BoardWalk Deli charges $5 for a Sprite and $4 for whole milk. While not necessarily cheap, these prices are still less than The Cake Shop Bakery’s $8 for either menu item (increases of 60% and 100%, respectively).
