Six Flags Fiesta Texas will transform its Goliath suspended roller coaster into “Chupacabra” — same coaster, new aesthetic. The San Antonio park announced the change on Dec. 13, 2024.

Inspired by the mythical creature known for its swift, agile, and unpredictable movements, the new Chupacabra theme captures the spirit of Texas’s legendary beast in every twist, drop, and turn and better fits the existing San Antonio architecture that surrounds the park’s entrance.

The theme will be supported by new props, landscaping, and audio throughout the queue and newly enhanced elements to the ride — though the coaster track itself will remain the same (with the exception of its new orange-red color, replacing the former blue color scheme).

No concrete timeline was announced for Goliath’s metamorphosis into Chupacabra, though Jeffrey Siebert, park president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, did reference in a video on the park’s YouTube channel the transformation guests will see “over the years” and changes to the attraction “over the months ahead.”

Goliath originally opened in 2008 and was manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard. The coaster has a height requirement of 54 inches and reaches speeds of up to 50 mph.

The change at Six Flags Fiesta Texas follows the recent rebrands of coasters Intimidator at Carowinds and Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion, which became “Thunder Striker” and “Pantherian,” respectively, at those Six Flags sister parks.

Six Flags has already revealed a slate of new roller coasters for 2025 and more attractions for 2026 for its parks nationwide. Earlier this year, Cedar Fair and Six Flags merged, forming a company with a combined portfolio of 42 parks.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas introduced Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, a dive coaster, in 2022:
