The calendar hasn’t yet turned to 2025, but Six Flags is already getting a jump on 2026. On Nov. 14, 2024, the corporation — which owns 27 theme parks and 15 water parks in North America — announced a slate of new attractions opening in 2026. The list includes four roller coasters and two water rides, among other additions.

The 2026 Six Flags enhancements will cost $525 million. This is on top of the $500 million of investments in 2025. (See full list below of everything coming to Six Flags parks in 2025 and 2026.) Those numbers include $80 million to be spent over the course of those two years on “food and beverage upgrades, including new restaurant concepts and improved menu offerings.”

‘The new Six Flags’

The entities formerly known as Cedar Fair Entertainment Company and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation merged to form a combined company going by the name of the latter and possessing a portfolio of 42 parks. The merger was completed on July 1, 2024.

“The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience,” said Richard A. Zimmerman, president and CEO of Six Flags, on the company’s 2026 announcements, “one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment.”

During an earnings call on Nov. 6, 2024, executives shared plans to undergo a “comprehensive review of the portfolio to evaluate the potential divestiture of non-core assets to help reduce leverage,” citing the sale of undeveloped land and water parks a previous examples of this strategy.

Six Flags shared the news of these new 2026 attractions at the same time it announced the permanent closure of Kingda Ka — the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, according to the company — at Six Flags Great Adventure.
