Kings Island’s first water coaster to open in 2025

Soak City — the water park adjacent to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio — will open RiverRacers, the park’s first water coaster, when its summer 2025 season commences. The park defines a water coaster as “a water slide that’s not only powered by gravity, but also by water jets that propel riders uphill.”

On RiverRacers, riders on two sets of “track” will race side by side. The water coaster will launch riders down its first drop — measuring 33 feet and positioned at a 47-degree angle — before weaving through enclosed and open-air segments of the slide, ultimately reaching a top speed of 30 mph.

New kids’ slides

In addition to RiverRacers, in 2025 Kings Island’s Soak City will also debut Splash River Junction, an area of the water park with younger guests in mind. Splash River Junction will include a set of seven small slides called Salamander Sliders as well as a large kiddie pool called Bluegill Lagoon.

Big summer for Kings Island

RiverRacers and Splash River Junction mark the first major additions to Kings Island’s 35-acre water park since 2016. Entry into Soak City is included with Kings Island admission.

“Our park guests have wanted the thrills of a water coaster for a long time, said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island, “and you can never go wrong adding new experiences for kids and families to cool off together, especially in Soak City.”

The Kings Island 2025 additions come on the heels of 2024’s reimagining of Camp Snoopy, the park’s Peanuts-themed land, complete with the new roller coaster Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers. Also in summer 2024, Kings Island’s parent company, Cedar Fair, merged with Six Flags. Kings lsland and Soak City now belong to a combined portfolio of 42 parks.

Kings Island 2025 season passes are now on sale. Guests who purchase a Gold-tier season pass now will receive admission for the remainder of 2024 and all of 2025. An add-on option grants admission to all 42 Six Flags parks beginning in 2025.
