VP pick Tim Walz is just like us – thrill junkies
Do you have a family tradition when visiting theme parks, amusement parks, or state fairs? Tim Walz does.

Tim Walz’s state fair tradition
Governor Tim Walz — governor of Minnesota and vice presidential candidate for the 2024 election — has a tradition with his daughter, Hope, when it comes to rides at the Minnesota State Fair.
“Every year, we as a family do something old and something new,” Walz said in a video on his social media platforms during his 2023 state fair visit. “I get to pick something — a classic, Ye Olde Mill Ride — and we do that. Then Hope gets to pick something new.”
“I think we’re gonna go do the slingshot,” Hope remarked. Common at many fairs and amusement parks, a slingshot is a two-person contraption that begins stationary on the ground before flinging its riders into the air and spinning them around with bungee-like motion.
“I don’t know what it is, and they’re keeping it from me,” Walz replied.
Subsequent video footage shows Walz a bit nervous upon the slingshot’s launch, but ultimately enjoying the ride, laughing alongside his daughter. Afterward, Walz called the ride “wild” and “so worth it.”

As Vice President Kamala Harris now seeks election as president, she formally selected Walz as her VP running mate for this year’s Democrat ticket on Aug. 6, 2024. Following Harris’ announcement, voters began researching Walz’s history to learn more about him, and the video of his state fair tradition resurfaced. Wonder if he’d enjoy VelociCoaster?

Tim Walz’s opponent for vice president, Republican Senator J.D. Vance, also frequented his own state fair (in Ohio) in 2023. Vance’s family visited the fair’s farm animals and met with leaders of the local agriculture community. No videos have surfaced yet of him on any rides.
But both Walz and Vance mentioned corn dogs on their lists of priorities for their respective state fair visits.
Though spotlighting presidents rather than vice presidents, The Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World showcases every commander-in-chief in U.S. history as Audio-Animatronics figures, and will assumedly continue the tradition following the 2024 election.

Hmm, if I were you, I’d do my best to keep politics out of this e-newsletter.
Walz is an evil human being who allowed his state to burn and announces a call to Muslim worship 5 times a day.
I know this is a free newsletter, but you do have paying subscribers here.
Let’s just stick to the joy of theme parks, since we choose to go to them (if we can afford them) in order to escape the every day nonsense that politics brings.
Thank you.
