Great Movie Escape room at Universal CityWalk opening next week, tickets available

Earlier this year, Universal Orlando Resort announced that two immersive escape rooms would be coming to CityWalk. For the uninitiated, an escape room is a group activity where guests work together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and work toward a common goal under a limited timeframe, usually under one hour.

CityWalk will have two escape rooms themed after iconic Universal film franchises: “Back to the Future” and “Jurassic World. The admission fee starts at $49.99 per guest and tickets can be purchased at Universalorlando.com. Both rooms open on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

Escape room participants are frequently paired with strangers (maximum six guests in total) who happen to book the room at the same time. For some, this adds to the fun of the experience. However, if you have a larger group or prefer to solve the riddles without the help of other guests, you can book the room as a private experience for a flat rate starting at $300. Universal’s website specifies that parties of seven or eight should select the private room option.

Jurassic World Escape

On Isla Nublar, you and your teammates find yourselves inside a secret genetics lab. As you may expect in Jurassic World, there’s a familiar problem: an apex predator has broken free and is headed your way. You’ll need to use your wits to escape this room’s teeth and claws before time runs out.

Back to the Future: Outatime

Biff’s at it again! Doc Brown’s newest time travel device has been stolen. Luckily, Doc left some clues so you and your teammates can find the prototype, track down Biff and save the day. Just don’t stall too long or you’ll be “outatime!”

The rooms do not list a minimum age, but the site notes that the pricing is the same for all guests ages three and up, while guests under three are admitted free of charge with an accompanying adult. Each experience is about an hour, but expect the whole experience, including check-in, to last about 90 minutes. Tickets include complimentary regular self-parking with advanced purchases (one vehicle per ticket). Present your Great Movie Escape ticket at the parking garage toll plaza for free parking. If you buy your ticket on-site, you can show your parking receipt to be reimbursed. All guests are required to arrive at least 15 minutes before their start time.
