Universal Orlando Resort is known for immersive sets themed after iconic horror films at its annual Halloween Horror Nights, and coming soon is something even bigger – Universal’s Great Movie Escape.

Opening later this year near Antojitos at CityWalk are two escape rooms themed after some of the biggest blockbuster summer film franchises, “Jurassic World” and “Back to the Future.” In the attraction’s announcement, Universal said the escape rooms are being designed by some of the same minds behind the Halloween Horror Nights houses and mazes.

When the Great Movie Escape opens, visitors “will be swept into the dinosaur adventures of ‘Jurassic World’ or the time-traveling chaos of ‘Back to the Future’ as they solve their way through a multi-sensory experience like no other.”

More details and an official release date will come soon, and tickets will go on sale in the coming months. Stay tuned to UniversalOrlando.com for more updates.

While the Great Movie Escape is a first-of-its-kind attraction for the resort, it isn’t the first time Universal has tested an escape room-style activity.

Back in 2016, Halloween Horror Nights featured The Repository haunted house, which was a virtual reality escape room that required guests to purchase an additional ticket to experience. Guests worked in small groups to solve puzzles and find clues, venturing through several rooms that included immersive theming and live actors.
