Halloween Horror Nights, Universal’s annual scare-fest in Hollywood, Calif. and Orlando, Fla. will be a terrifying topic of discussion at the Midsummer Scream and Spooky Empire conventions in 2022.
The annual, weekend-long Midsummer Scream Halloween and horror convention in Long Beach, Calif. has announced the addition of Universal Studios’ Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights panels and participants to their 2022 lineup.
This year’s convention includes more than 350 exhibitors, over a dozen mini-haunts and attractions, live performances, and panels and participants including John Murdy, Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights creative director and executive producer.
Murdy will be in attendance on July 30, presenting an exclusive look at the design process and details that going into creating Halloween Horror Nights’ haunted houses for 2022.
The fan event takes place in the Long Beach Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom from July 29-July 31, showcasing “the diversity of Southern California’s haunt and horror community” to attendees from around the world.

Spooky Empire multi-genre convention in Orlando has also announced the addition of a Halloween Horror Nights panel to their June 17-19 event, which takes place at the Wyndham Orlando Resort on International Drive.
The June 17 lineup includes members of Universal Orlando’s Entertainment Art and Design team, Mike Aiello, Charles Gray, Lora Sauls, and Matt Flood, who will talk about the creative process and the history behind Orlando’s major annual Halloween event.
Halloween Horror Nights Orlando’s presentation will start a 4 p.m.
Spooky Empire also features vendors from across the U.S., costume contests, music, tattoo artists, Q&As, meet and greets, and more.
