It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Props, trusses, sets, and more are popping up all around Universal Studios Florida as preparation for the world’s premiere Halloween event ramps up.

There’s less than a month until the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights 34 on Aug. 29. You can feel the hype in the air as we get closer and closer to going back into the fog. All houses, shows, and scare zones have been announced, which means the hardworking team members at Universal Creative are working tirelessly to decorate the park in its seasonal best. A massive thank you to both @bioreconstruct and @HHNstagram on X for their devotion to photographing these additions the morning they go up.

‘The Origins of Horror’ / Minions Land

The first scare zone you’ll encounter after scanning into the park is “The Origins of Horror.” For the past few years, there has not been a true scare zone in this area. Minions Land has remained vacant of scare actors since its opening in 2023. For Halloween Horror Nights 2025, it appears the land will see a return to form as platforms and scenery have been installed throughout.

A massive structure has been erected with a stained-glass roof that’s seen better days. Upon close inspection, you’ll see holes broken through said glass as well as what appears to be a rotting tree growing along the walls.

Near the Universal Studios Store and “Wicked: The Experience,” workers placed mini platforms, assumably for scare actors to stand upon and lunge at guests.

‘Mutations: Toxic Twenties’ / New York

While no props have been spotted in the New York section of the park for what will assumedly be the “Mutations: Toxic Twenties” scare zone, it’s worth noting some work going on at the Palace Arcade. The sign outside that used to read “Arcade” has been removed. The main doors have been blocked off and locked as well.

Another entrance to the Palace Arcade can be found inside Revenge of the Mummy’s gift shop, which is also blocked off.

The word on the street has this either being the location for this year’s Tribute Store, or some sort of “Five Nights at Freddy’s”-based experience. While nothing is set in stone and nothing is confirmed until Universal Orlando Resort says so, it’s definitely an interesting change as this arcade is usually running normal operations during the Halloween Horror Nights season.

‘Masquerade: Dance with Death’ / Hollywood

The stage is set, literally, in the Hollywood section of the park. There are multiple stages with a stained-glass backdrop. When construction is complete, this will be the “Masquerade: Dance with Death” scare zone during Halloween Horror Nights. Each stage has different stained-glass art behind it, the ones pictured being a gargoyle and a bat. A structure signifying the entrance to the zone has also been placed, with a half gate attached.

‘The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane’ / Central Park

Before we go any further, look what has finally returned! After years of traveling around the park (notably the entrance to the “Wicked Growth” haunted house in 2021 and Minion Land after that), the pumpkins have returned to their home in the trees of Central Park!

From what we can tell by construction so far, Central Park will be home to Halloween Horror Nights’ most detailed scare zone this year: “The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane.”

There’s lots of vintage Halloween décor across the zone, including rusting bikes, which probably belonged to the kids who have gone missing in the story of the zone.

Halloween Horror Nights is known for its intense and grotesque imagery, like the props below. Warning: extremely scary.

“Crooked Lane” extends past Central Park this year with giant sets taking over the pathway to DreamWorks Land. At the end of the pathway is truss work. While it’s just a few beams and a platform as of this moment, is it possible this could be the home of the Cat Lady transforming trick-or-treaters into cats? The huts made out of old wood and fencing have cutouts that are currently covered up with scrim, most likely for scare actors to pop out of. There’s also quite a bit of broken stained glass in the area… noticing a theme? This likely is what ties all the scare zones together to the event’s “conservatory” overarching theme.

Back on “Crooked Lane,” there’s adorable artwork to help convey the story to those walking through.

Club Horror / San Francisco

Finally, a place to dance with the undead. Club Horror is not necessarily a scare zone, but a new experience for this year’s HHN. A stage where an undead DJ will be mixing it up has been constructed in the park’s San Francisco area.
