Tributes are Universal

As a wise philosopher once said, “It’s frickin’ bats. I love Halloween.”

Such is the sentiment guests might express upon exiting 2024’s Halloween Tribute Store at Universal Studios Florida. The seasonal retail location (residing in the park’s New York section) sells a variety of spooky merchandise, yes, but much of its appeal comes from its atmosphere and visual details.

As other Halloween Tribute Stores of years past and like 2024’s movie-themed Summer Tribute Store (over in the park’s Hollywood area and still operational at the time of this writing), the Halloween Tribute Store is something of an attraction in and of itself: a haunted house without the haunts, if you will, with the same level of lore and scenic prop design Universal Creative instills into Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) walkthrough experiences, with consumer products and snacks in place of scare actors.

The Halloween Tribute Store 2024 is open during HHN as well as during daytime operations at Universal Studios Florida, effective Aug. 28, 2024. Let’s take a peek inside!

The rooms of the Halloween Tribute Store

As shoppers stroll through the rooms of the Halloween Tribute Store 2024, they may notice placemaking details involving shipment containers, a warehouse, and a subway station, plus talks of an antiques museum and tracings of mysterious hauntings from a bat-like figure (more on that in a sec.)

Bats everywhere

Bats seem to be a frequent problem for the fictional locale of the Halloween Tribute Store 2024 — or perhaps one bat in particular.

A flier on the wall reads: “If you see a bat, take it out | The only good bats are no bats | Brought to you by Kurt’s Supplies”

Another flier proclaims: “Special bulletin | Wanted: large bat creature”

Guests can discover even more backstory about the Tribute Store by scanning a QR code inside Sahara Traders, the gift shop at the exit of Revenge of the Mummy. It seems a museum installation has gone awry thanks to a bat antique coming to life …

Graffiti details of the Halloween Tribute Store

Aligning with the punk-rock aesthetic of this year’s HHN promotional images, the 2024 Halloween Tribute Store displays graffiti artwork that further contributes to the backstory of Kurt’s Supplies and the mysterious bat hauntings.

Merchandise and snacks

Since the Halloween Tribute Store 2024 is, well, a store, you’ll find plenty of HHN-branded merchandise inside, as well as spooky-themed treats.

Much of this merchandise is not exclusive to the 2024 Halloween Tribute Store, and can be found elsewhere throughout Universal Orlando — including in seemingly random places, such as the display pictured below in the gift shop at the exit of Men In Black: Alien Attack. (Gotta love all the love for Lil’ Boo, made famous by our own reporter Connor!)

A selection of HHN merchandise is also available online through Universal’s store.

Halloween fans can also get their fix year-round over at All Hallows’ Boutique in The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure.
