Hatbox Ghost has come out to socialize at Disney World
Look Alive! One of Disneyland’s most iconic characters – the Hatbox Ghost – has finally made his highly-anticipated debut in the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World.

Starting today, Magic Kingdom guests will be able to spot the Hatbox Ghost as they pass the Endless Hallway, a location challenged by diehard Haunted Mansion fans who note that Madame Leota summons the spirits later in the attraction.

In Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, the spiffy specter appears after the attic scene, just before the Doom Buggies descend into the graveyard.
Above, Imagineer and Disney Legend Yale Gracey poses with the original Hatbox Ghost at the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park. Originally part of the rise when the attraction opened in 1969, this spook was almost immediately taken out of the attraction when the illusion didn’t work properly.
As part of the Disneyland Diamond Celebration, a new version of the Hatbox Ghost was installed at the Haunted Mansion in May 2015. Now, on Nov. 30, 2023, he has also been added to The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World.
