Hersheypark announces Candymonium hypercoaster for 2020

Hersheypark has announced its 15th roller coaster: the Candymonium, a hypercoaster with a lift height of 210 feet, max speed of 76 miles per hour, and track length of 4,636 feet.

Once it opens in summer 2020 as part of the new Hershey’s Chocolatetown region, will be the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in Hersheypark. This new addition will mean that Hersheypark will have the most roller coasters of any theme park in the Northeast in 2020.

“As the World’s Sweetest Coaster, Candymonium will truly merge fun and iconic Hershey brands to provide a thrilling experience our guests can only get in Hershey,” said John Lawn, president and CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company. “We worked with leading industry manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) to assemble a one-of-a-kind hyper coaster with the most airtime of any coaster in Hersheypark.”

Candymonium will take up seven acres at the new entrance of Hershey’s Chocolatetown, a new region at Hersheypark where guests can eat, play, and shop year-round. The coaster will feature milk chocolate-colored track and candy-themed trains that represent Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Twizzlers.

The 2 minute and 26 second ride will have a height requirement of 54 inches (this is the park’s Twizzler heigh classification and above), and will send riders on a 210-foot ascent up the tallest hill in the park before diving into thrilling drops – like seven camelback hills and a 123-degree hammerhead curve. The final touch on the ride is a panoramic banked curve that will wrap around the new Kisses Fountain.
