Howl-O-Scream Orlando turns dark romance genre into a scarezone
Fans of cursed love stories, werewolves, and sparkling vampires finally have a scare zone of their own. SeaWorld Orlando will offer ‘Just One More Chapter,’ an all-new dark romance scare zone coming to Howl-O-Scream 2026. The event runs select nights from Sept. 11 – Oct. 31, 2026.

Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld has become a favorite Halloween in Orlando event for its creative original concepts and comparatively affordable ticket prices.
Dark romance gets a deadly chapter at Howl-O-Scream
Dark romance is escaping the bookshelf and stalking the streets of SeaWorld Orlando. Howl-O-Scream’s new “Just One More Chapter” scare zone draws inspiration from dangerous obsessions and seductive villains who are far more likely to spill blood than sweep anyone off their feet.

Inside ‘Just One More Chapter’
SeaWorld’s description of the zone reads:
“If your bookshelf is filled with toxic obsession, masked men, and the most twisted love stories, this is the scare zone you’ve been waiting for. Cross into Just One More Chapter, where irresistible temptation creates deadly intentions and every path leads deeper into the darkness. Lose yourself in an enchanted garden filled with gothic beauty, cursed romance and creatures that are every bit as dangerous as they are captivating.”
Dark romance is a publishing category that pairs a love story with danger, obsession, and a morally compromised love interest. Much of its growth has come from BookTok, the book-recommendation side of TikTok, where readers trade titles and cover art.
Howl-O-Scream scare zones have historically drawn on horror staples, like rotting swamps and hostile trailer parks. This one starts on a bookshelf, and the fans approve.
What fans are saying
The park’s announcement reel is filled with comments from fans and romance readers, showing an overwhelmingly positive response.
“THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT THE MASKED MEN EVERYONE SCATTER,” one commenter wrote, in the reel’s most-liked reply.
“BookTok has entered the chat,” wrote another. A third put it more simply: “Y’all out here summoning book tok this year.”
Others staked out the zone as a hangout rather than a haunt. “You’re going to have to drag me out of this scare zone,” one guest wrote. Another said the announcement left her “giggling and kicking my feet,” a phrase borrowed straight from BookTok.
One commenter offered a reminder aimed at the crowd the zone will attract, asking guests to remember that scare actors are real people and wishing the performers safe nights.
What else is coming to Howl-O-Scream 2026
Just One More Chapter is one of seven scare zones for 2026. Five are all-new, and two fan favorites return: Woodrot Hollow, set in a festering swamp, and Trailer Park Tragedy. Three of the new zones have not been named.
The event also includes five haunted houses, four of them with all-new storylines. The only one announced so far is ‘Everything Must Stay,’ built around a suburban open house that no buyer survives.
Rounding out the lineup are five all-new themed bars, two roaming hordes, live shows including ‘Monster Stomp’ at the Nautilus Theater, and four attractions running after dark: Mako, Ice Breaker, Pipeline, and Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice.
