Halloween in Orlando: best theme park events and things to do (2026)
Halloween season in Orlando has long been more than a single event. Throughout the fall, the area’s theme parks transform with spooky decorations. haunted houses, trick-or-treat trails, seasonal entertainment and limited-time attractions that appeal to everyone from toddlers to dedicated horror fans.

The Halloween season extends well beyond their gates. Local haunted attractions, pirate adventures with a spooky twist, family-friendly trick-or-treat events, and seasonal celebrations throughout Central Florida give visitors even more ways to celebrate.
As 2026 announcements are made, we will update this guide. Keep reading or use the Table of Contents below to jump to the theme park you’re most interested in.
Halloween season in Orlando: what to expect
This is more than a month of Halloween events. Orlando’s spooky season begins as early as August and continues through Halloween, with theme parks, attractions, and local venues each getting into the spirit. The result is one of the country’s longest and most diverse Halloween seasons, with options for young children, thrill seekers and everyone in between.
Orlando has three major theme park destinations: Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort (which includes Epic Universe), and SeaWorld Orlando. On top of that, there are multiple activities and smaller attractions to keep the haunts happy.
Walt Disney World’s spooky season
Spooky season is not as elaborate as the Walt Disney World’s holiday season, but there is still some seasonal fun to enjoy. Walt Disney World’s focus during the fall and Halloween season is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. This after-hours event is pricey, but it is considered to be Magic Kingdom’s best event by many Disney fans.
Ticket prices vary by night and can reach $200 or more. Included in admission is unlimited trick-or-treat stops, an elaborate Halloween parade, incredible fireworks, extra entertainment and rare character interactions, and best of all less crowds than an average day at Magic Kingdom.

Beyond Magic Kingdom, Halloween can also be found at a few other places within Walt Disney World. Disney Springs offers seasonal merchandise and limited-time treats, including the anticipated return of Jock Lindsey’s Halloween Bar, while Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has become a favorite among fans for its elaborate campsite decorations and annual Halloween golf cart parade.
But remember, the transportation options at Disney Springs changed this year so plan ahead so your spooky visit doesn’t become a nightmare.
Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights
While Walt Disney World delivers a family-friendly after hours event, Universal Orlando main highlight is the exact opposite. For more than three decades, Halloween Horror Nights has set the standard for theme park Halloween events, transforming Universal Studios Florida into a nighttime experience filled with haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and themed food and merchandise.
This year’s milestone 35th anniversary event features the return of iconic characters Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, along with haunted houses inspired by franchises including “Stranger Things,” “Hellraiser,” and “Sinners,” plus new original concepts. Running select nights from Aug. 28 through Nov. 1, the separately ticketed event is recommended for teens and adults looking for intense scares.
Universal CityWalk
During past Halloween seasons, Universal CityWalk Orlando has extended the celebration beyond the parks with seasonal food, specialty drinks, themed entertainment, and the popular Halloween overlay of the Red Coconut Club, known in recent years as Dead Coconut Club. Stay tuned for announcements as we anticipate this club will continue offering immersive décor and themed cocktails without requiring event admission.

Halloween-themed bars at Universal Orlando Resort hotels
In recent years, select Universal Orlando Resort hotels have embraced the Halloween season with themed pop-up bars, specialty cocktails, seasonal décor, and immersive lounge overlays inspired by Halloween Horror Nights. While Universal has not yet confirmed the return of these hotel experiences for 2026, they have become a popular way for guests to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere outside the parks, even without a Halloween Horror Nights ticket.
Usually you can park at the resort and receive validation with a minimum spend, usually around $30 – $40, please ask the staff prior to ordering so you know in advance.
Universal’s Volcano Bay Nights (fall edition)
Slip into Universal’s immersive water park after hours to enjoy nighttime entertainment, cool character moments, and complimentary snacks. Last year Universal presented a fall edition of this event, complete with Halloween beach party music, Scooby Doo characters, and Halloween themed treats. Each ticket holder receives a Complimentary Coca-Cola Freestyle® souvenir cup.
Volcano Bay Nights ususally runs runs from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. But you can enter the park as early as 4 p.m. During the start of the evening, you may experience regular wait times, but as the evening progresses, you may feel like you’ve got the whole park to yourself!

SeaWorld Orlando’s Halloween event for everyone
The only theme park in Orlando to offer two Halloween events, one for families and one for scare-seekers. SeaWorld Spooktacular is a tradition running many years offering everyone a chance to trick-or-treat in the park, during the day, in costume if they so choose, and no additional cost! While Howl-o-Scream is a new addition, brought over from Tampa Bay Busch Gardens, offering after-hours screams and frights.
SeaWorld Spooktacular
Included with regular park admission, SeaWorld Spooktacular offers one of Orlando’s best family-friendly Halloween celebrations. The daytime event features trick-or-treating, Halloween characters, interactive entertainment, crafts, and seasonal experiences designed for younger guests.
One of the event’s features is its layout. Much of the trick-or-treat trail and Halloween entertainment is concentrated in the Key West and Journey to Atlantis areas. This makes it easier to enjoy the seasonal festivities without taking away from the rest of a day exploring SeaWorld’s rides, animal habitats, and shows. The area also features some of the park’s most charming Halloween entertainment, including mini dance parties, storytime, character encounters and more.
Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando
When the sun goes down, SeaWorld Orlando shifts from family-friendly fun to a night of haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, themed bars and nighttime coaster rides during Howl-O-Scream. The separately ticketed event is recommended for teens and adults looking for a more intense Halloween experience.
One of the first houses announced for 2026 is ‘Everything Must Stay,’ which takes guests inside a suburban home that has remained unsold for years as terrifying supernatural forces turn an ordinary open house into a nightmare.
Brick-or-Treat at Legoland Florida
Brick-or-Treat at Legoland Florida Resort combines Halloween fun with the park’s signature LEGO-themed experiences. Included with regular park admission, the event features trick-or-treating, themed shows, character meet-and-greets, seasonal décor, and exclusive LEGO characters dressed in Halloween costumes.

One of Brick-or-Treat’s biggest strengths is that Halloween activities are woven throughout the park without overwhelming its everyday attractions. Families can collect candy, enjoy live entertainment, and take part in seasonal activities while still experiencing Legoland’s rides and playgrounds, some with a spooky touch.
Combined with recent additions like the indoor Galacticoaster, Legoland offers a full-day experience for everyone, especially families with elementary-age kids.
International Drive and other small attractions
As the sun sets, areas like International Drive and Kissimmee offer even more ways to enjoy the Halloween season. Destinations including ICON Park, Pointe Orlando, Promenade at Sunset Walk, and Old Town are free to explore, with restaurants, bars, live entertainment, seasonal decorations and special fall events adding to the atmosphere throughout the season.
Pirates Dinner Adventure transforms its swashbuckling dinner show into Vampirates, a seasonal production featuring spooky characters, Halloween-themed entertainment, and pirate adventure. The newest additions to International Drive include Great Big Game Show for competitive fun and Ripley’s Crazy Golf for indoor, glowing golf.
Also at ICON Park, the world’s largest Build-A-Bear Workshop will open soon, and Blue Man Group began performing earlier this year.
Gatorland near Kissimmee also celebrates the season with its annual Gators, Ghosts & Goblins event, included with regular park admission. Families can enjoy trick-or-treating, Halloween-themed entertainment, seasonal characters, a scary haunted house attraction and festive activities. If you’re a Florida resident keep an eye out for discounts.
