July 2025: Construction update for Blue Man Group theater at Icon Park

Construction paused awhile ago on the future Blue Man Group site at Icon Park, and the store closed. Construction will resume imminently.

A representative from Blue Man Group shared the following statement with Attractions Magazine on July 19, 2025:

Blue Man Group, the international entertainment phenomenon known for its world-famous music and distinctively non-verbal forms of communication, is gearing up for its newest remount in Orlando. Originally planned for spring 2025, the Blue Man Theater has experienced several construction delays including the permitting process that ultimately halted all on-site activity. On-site activity is now set to resume next week. Visit BLUEMAN.com and sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when tickets go on sale for Blue Man Orlando.

April 2025: Blue Man Group delayed to ‘later’ in 2025

Originally scheduled to debut April 3, 2025 at Icon Park in Orlando, Fla., and then delayed to May 29, Blue Man Group will now debut “later this year,” as announced in a press release on April 16.

While ticket sales were previously live, they are no longer active and all ticketholders will be refunded their transactions.

Below is our previously reported information about Blue Man’s Group return to Orlando, which all remains true.

September 2024: Theater breaks ground

A new theater at Icon Park in Orlando, Fla. will host a permanent Blue Man Group production. Blue Man Group formerly held a residency at Universal Orlando Resort, which began in 2007 and did not reopen following its 2020 pandemic-related closure.

The permanent, 578-seat venue — which will be located at Icon Park’s Universal Boulevard entrance and directly underneath the Orlando Eye — will be custom-designed for Blue Man Group performances, a first for the troupe. The venture broke ground on Sept. 5, 2024. Take a look at the groundbreaking ceremony:

The new production will be a mix of previous Blue Man Group shows (somewhat like a best-of) in addition to new scenes. Audience members who saw former Blue Man Group performances in Orlando may recognize some of the acts and even some of the performers in Icon Park’s show, as many cast and employees from the prior iteration will return.

June 2024: Blue Man Group Orlando return announced

“There is no greater world stage than Orlando for exciting family fun, making it a natural choice as a home base for Blue Man Group,” said Jack Kenn, managing director of Blue Man Group, in June 2024 when the new show was announced. “Our fans are eager for the Blue Men to be part of their Orlando vacations, and our creative team is thrilled to create a new type of experience that is even more immersive and personalized to Orlando.”

History of BMG in Orlando

The venue formerly home to Blue Man Group at Universal Orlando is unique among theme park history as technically belonging to three different properties within the resort across time. The same soundstage was part of Universal Studios Florida when it hosted Nickelodeon Studios from 1990-2005, categorized as part of Universal CityWalk during the Blue Man Group’s tenure from 2007-2020, and is currently seasonally annexed into Universal Islands of Adventure during holiday performances of “The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular.”

Blue Man Group is owned by Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, which purchased the brand in 2017. Elsewhere in Orlando, Cirque du Soleil performs the “Drawn to Life” show at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World.

In 2024, Merlin Entertainments purchased one of Icon Park’s signature attractions, the ferris wheel, and reinstated its original name, The Orlando Eye.
