ICON Park adds chaperone policy for minors after teen incident
ICON Park has introduced a new chaperone policy for guests 17 and younger following a recent large gathering of teens at the Orlando entertainment district.

According to the official rules for ICON Park, minors may be required to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone age 21 or older in order to enter or remain on the property.
What the ICON Park chaperone policy says
The policy applies to guests 17 and younger and requires supervision by an adult age 21 or older when it is in effect.
Key details include:
- One chaperone may accompany no more than six guests age 17 and younger
- Chaperones must remain with their group during the visit
- Parents or guardians may be held legally responsible for the actions of minors
- ICON Park states it does not assume responsibility for unattended minors
The policy applies across the entire open-air entertainment district. It’s important information to know if you’re visiting Orlando for summer vacation, or even as a local.
When is the chaperone policy enforced?
ICON Park’s rules state the chaperone policy may be enforced at any time, rather than following a fixed daily schedule.
Local reporting from WKMG ClickOrlando indicated the policy was introduced following the incident and can be activated without advance notice.
A different kind of enforcement challenge
Unlike theme parks that enforce policies at entry points and specific times, ICON Park’s approach appears designed to be flexible and situational, depending on crowd conditions and security needs.
ICON Park operates as a multi-tenant, open-air destination with multiple points of entry, rather than a gated theme park with controlled access. This open layout is actually one of the reasons I enjoy visiting with my family.
That layout may make enforcement more complex, particularly during large gatherings. The policy’s language — including its ability to be activated at any time — suggests it may function as both a crowd management tool and an enforcement mechanism if incidents occur.

April 2026 Incident
The update follows an incident in late April in which authorities said more than 1,000 teenagers gathered at ICON Park, leading to fights and multiple arrests.
According to reports from WKMG ClickOrlando, two deputies were injured and later released from the hospital. Officials have also indicated awareness of potential future gatherings, which may factor into how and when the policy is enforced.
What visitors should know
Guests planning to visit ICON Park, especially with teens, should be aware that the chaperone policy may be enforced at any time. If activated, guests 17 and younger would need to be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older, with one adult supervising no more than six minors.
Checking ICON Park’s official website before visiting may help avoid confusion, particularly during evenings or high-traffic periods.
Ongoing updates at ICON Park
The policy comes at a time of continued updates at ICON Park.
The entertainment district is now home to a newly reimagined mini golf experience and will soon welcome a new Build-A-Bear retail location described as the brand’s largest. Blue Man Group is also scheduled to debut a new show at the complex this weekend.
Those additions reflect ongoing investment in the property even as new operational policies are introduced.
