‘Insidious’ live on tour comes to an unexpected halt
“Insidious: The Further You Fear” is a live show that kicked off this month and was supposed to tour over 80 cities. After its first performance in Detroit, the show does not look as if it will go on. This was confirmed by an actor in the show, and evidenced by the sudden lack of ticket availability on its website.
However, despite tickets not being available for any future dates on their website, the next two performances are the only ones listed as CANCELLED. If the show will proceed in any capacity, it seems to be unknown at the moment. Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts shared that the tour’s planned March 25 performance is cancelled due to “unforeseen technical difficulties.”
One attendee at the recent Detroit performance described the performance as a “letdown” while another said it “sucks” and described it more as a comedy, as quoted by Detroit local news station WXYZ. ‘Insidious: The Further You Fear’ will cause audience members to question what’s real
Taking place in the “Insidious” universe, the “Insidious: The Further You Fear” live tour will be hosted by the “real” Specs and Tucker. They are the paranormal investigators who inspired the first movie. As the hosts attempt to prove there are actual ghosts nearby, the proof begins to show itself. The audience will quickly find themselves under attack from some familiar characters, such as the Bride in Black, the Wheezing Man, the terrifying Lipstick-Faced Demon, and more.
“Bringing audiences deeper into The Further with this live experience has been an exciting challenge, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they respond,” said Jason Blum, founder/CEO of Blumhouse.

“Today marks an exciting milestone as we launch our terrifying new immersive experience ‘Insidious: The Further You Fear,’ inspired by one of our most beloved franchises,” said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of worldwide partnerships and location-based entertainment at Sony. “This groundbreaking live show transcends the traditional boundaries of storytelling, bringing the film off the screen and into the real world … We can’t wait for fans to step into this world and face their fears head-on.”
A lot of forces combined to create this live horror show on tour
While the live show is based on the “Insidious” film franchise from Blumhouse, directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell, many forces combined to bring this tour to life. Carl Grose will be co-writing, and Toby Park and Aitor Basauri will be directing, while Toby Park will also be composing original music for “Insidious: The Further You Fear.” Additionally, GEA Live, Blumhouse, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and RoadCo Entertainment all also had a hand in elevating the scare factor in movie theaters across North America.
Blumhouse Productions’ “Insidious” has earned $742 million over the course of five movies (with a sixth to come out next year). However, theatergoers do not need to be familiar with the franchise to fully enjoy the horror that will be unleashed.
If you’re unfamiliar with “Insidious” or Blumhouse, but love horror, chances are you’ve come across one of the studio’s shows or films. A few notable Blumhous horror films are: “Halloween,” “The Purge,” “The Black Phone,” “Paranormal Activity,” “The Exorcist,” “M3GAN,” “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “Get Out,” “Damien,” and more.
