Interactive character testing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, headed for Hong Kong Disneyland

Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week got a rare chance to meet a new character that they’ll have to go a long way to see again. Imagineers were testing out an unusual character called Cubot before he/she heads to Hong Kong.

As you can see above and in the video below, Cubot is a large version of a block toy which kids can spin to mix up legs torsos and heads to create different looking characters. The character moves and talks to guests and allows them to spin the different sections.

The four sides consist of a princess, robot, cowboy and a spaceman. If the character is approaching a guest as a princess, she talks like a princess, if he’s approaching a guest as a cowboy, he talks like a cowboy. He/she sometimes gets their parts mixed up as they’re spinning around and asks line them up properly.

Cubot was only scheduled to be testing on Tuesday and Wednesday this week before heading to Hong Kong Disneyland to meet guests in their new Toy Story land.
