“Dive Into Action”

Players can battle underwater, “tail whip” adversaries across the ocean, and experience more unique gameplay moments inspired by Steven Spielberg’s 1975 film “Jaws” — all to the tune of John Williams’ score.

The official description for Jaws: Infested Waters reads:

Dive into the action as a fearsome shark or a brave shark hunter, complete missions, and play against your friends to see who will win the battle of the infested waters and become the ultimate sea legend. Can you survive the heart-pounding dangers of the ocean?

“Frightening, Fun, and Unexpected”

Jaws: Infested Waters is a partnership between Universal Products & Experiences and Orange Comet, Inc. The game is currently in a soft launch and will formally debut sometime this month.

“’Jaws’ is a one-of-kind film that generations of fans love to watch — and be terrified by —  together,” said Bill Kispert, SVP of games and digital platforms at Universal Products & Experiences. “This led us to explore a unique, multiplayer experience filled with frightening, fun, and unexpected twists above and below the surface.”

“I would say we’re kicking and screaming with excitement,” said Dave Broome, CEO of Orange Comet, “but that might attract sharks.”

The “Jaws” Legacy

“Jaws” was one of Spielberg’s earliest films for Universal, followed in later decades by “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” and “Jurassic Park,” among others.

A “Jaws” boat ride in which an animatronic shark emerged from the water and “attacked” guests was among the opening-day lineup at Universal Studios Florida in 1990. The attraction closed in 2012 to make way for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley (which has a few hidden tributes to “Jaws”).

Guests can still experience a version of the “Jaws” ride at Universal’s parks in California and Japan, the latter of which is the subject of the most popular video ever on our Attractions Magazine YouTube channel, with 122 million views:
